The “Can’t leave anything alone” Thread

So, i wasn’t satisfied with the unevenness of the washers due to hand sanding. So, i will do it, professionally. Took the washers to my job and ground it on my surface grinder.

I, then, fix the washer onto a fixture to grind it off, since its non-magnetic, it wouldn’t hold on my magchuck table.

Then, proceed to grind.

The tolerance, when i sanded at home was inaccurate with a cheap caliper. The true tolerance with a 0-1 micrometer, are:

0.0052" -0.0002"

and

0.0486" -0.0002"

Overall, im satisfied. It now has the tolerance of a CRK with tuned washers on both side.

Nerd. :D Love it! Too bad bm could get it right for you.

BM wouldn’t be able to do it... it was pretty time consuming to find the perfect tolerance to a near drop shut without any bladeplay in any directions. I scrapped 4 washers by doing so but it was worth it. With their spotty QC, i doubt they can tuned every knives manually like CRK. But hey, at least someone has to do it, right? :D

Rit dye FAIL!

Seemed like a good idea.
Try some nail polish resist:

I don't know why I tried it on a perfectly good knife when I got like three sets of G10 scales I could have used.
I also got some scrap G10 from liners, but nooooooo, I had use a knife.

Boiling part went okay.
In fact it was looking kinda good.
Then came the acetone part:

Uh, okay! All in the plan!
NOT.
This is what they call 'too much time on your hands.'
Back to the pot.
Boil, boil, toil and trouble.

I don’t know what you are whinnin’ about. ;) Looks great! No one would have known any different had you not said anything. ;) May not be what you were going for, but beautiful in its own way. :)
