The 2010 Forum Knife Continues!

#73 Trapper for me. Single blade if possible.

At over 4" long, and round and fat, the equal end is more than I will pocket. I'm in for whatever comes, but anyone who has not owned one of those, and plans to carry theirs, should know that its kind of like carrying a roll of quarters in their pocket.

Dang nice knives though.

Agree 100% with all of that. "A roll of quarters" is a nice description. I want this knife to be one I carry around and use, and if it is uncomfortable or tears out pockets I won't.

A larger knife in sowbelly, swayback, or even teardrop really helps to relieve that problem.

On a sideline note, being fairly new to this as well - will there be a facility to recieve a PAYPAL payment for the cost of this years Knife? being O'S does put me at a small payment disadvantage.

Right, Equal end sounds nice. Are we still in $100 USD price range? And is Paypal one payment choice? Being knife-a-holic in back north has its slight disadvantages, similar to Ozy.

Personally, I prefer the trapper. I prefer larger knives and carry them in a belt sheath. For some reason I really don't care for equal end patterns but I love that trapper.

It's not for sure yet but I plan to accept Paypal for these. Details will be posted when there are details.

I am sure we'll be able to figure out "World" payments! Like last year, everyone who wanted a knife was able to get one.

Also, please stick to GEC in this thread, We have by no means abandoned the Queen patterns. I just need to be able to negotiate with each Cutlery. You will have the final say via a poll!

Alright, I am in. Heck, details of shipping (like I am not able to get U.S. stamps in here) can be delt later. Let us now focus on deciding the knife and payments. I do like Equal End Jack, even I hate the awl. But trapper is good too. I am in no matter the pattern.

a big thank you to the 3 amigos responsible for this fine effort. i foolishly hadn`t gotten in on any bf forum knives and am really looking forward to this 2010 slippie.

of the gec choices here i like the trapper far better with the clip blade, although i am crossing my fingers that when all is said and done we opt for queen as the maker on this one.

thnx

Fist off a Huge THANKS to Charlie and the gang for taking on this Herculean task!. You fellows are TOPS!

Charlie, I like the Trapper best of those two choices re: GEC.

However, I am praying that we ultimately end up with Queen as the producer.

Best,
Anthony

For handle material the cocobolo rosewood that gec has sourced for it's knives is of exceptional quality. I have two with that handle material and I think it offsets their 1095 carbon steel nicely with or without patina on the blade.

Between the EE & the Trapper, I'd say the EE. I had the Trapper or Scout, I think. It's shorter than the EE, but much bulkier, IMHO.

However, if we can mention another GEC pattern, I'd say a Congress or the Furtaker.

The furtaker is an equal end and has a turkish clip on one side and a wharncliff on the other.

Anyone got a picture? Sounds like an improved Muskrat or Hawbaker.

You're right on Charlie. I'm not sure if you'd call this a Wharncliffe or a sheepfoot, but it's very like a Hawbaker. It's the same EE #53 pattern as we've been looking at. Nice antique green bone and California clip as well.
