The 2016 knives have landed!

Do we know if GEC will be doing this with the knives those of us are waiting on?

A few thousandths of an inch will be removed from the back of the punch blade allowing the blades to pass each other more easily.

Thanks! Looking at the knife I really don't see a clearance issue and there isn't any rub on either blade. Is it possible that the clearance problem is in the tang area? If so. removal of material along the length of the awl won't work. Guess I'll just let Bill sort it out. I hope they open and close the blades before shipping it back this time.

The large swedge on the main blade and the bevel on the punch make it seem there is plenty of clearance between the blades, but they are touching.

After looking at mine this past weekend. I realized the rubbing was on the liner and the punch. Not the blade. There are no rub marks on the blade at all, but instead the side of the punch closest to the liner. You can see the marks on the pic below.

Completely dumb question, but would it be possible to sand the liners a bit to relieve them? Small space but it would keep the blades whole. Wedging almost seems a possibility, but then you might get stuck the other way:rolleyes: . The SFO would bother me a bit, anything you do will affect value, unless you're willing to make it a carry knife:D. Good luck, still waiting.
Thanks, Neal
Ps-anyone know if or when the second batch will be leaving the factory?

Just got my Second 35 in the mail. It's the C.C. H.J #10 S.F.O. and like my forum knife it opens up with no issues at all. I was sure I was going to keep the forum version and sell the C.C. but that was before I got the knife in hand. Beautiful Ebony covers and One hell of a tuff decision for me. Lol

BIG thanks to Charlie AND Barry for all their hard work. And thanks to Bill for bringing these knife dreams to life. The punch is buttery smooth on this one and the ebony wood looks fantastic. Thank you!

AusLoX- I have Charlie's SFO and mine is rubbing on the outside against the liner too!

I would send these back to the factory post haste! GEC will do the necessary modifications and it won't affect the knife's value. We are still waiting on the remainder of the order, as the mod work has thrown the production schedule off a bit. It shouldn't be long now. :)

Thank you for all of your efforts! I already have the ebony version and it is absolutely perfect! No rubbing or any other imperfection. It is my 10th GEC and is the best knife I have ever owned. I am impatiently waiting for my BF to show up,but realize its all up to the knife gods.
The clearances are so close that I don’t see how they could make it with a Pen blade, They would have to widen the single spring and then perhaps change the temper on the spring to furnish an easier pull.
IMO with a double spring, this would be a much better pattern than the American Jack #78 was.
Again, many thanks.

Forum knives have been landing in distant locations (Netherlands, Outer Hebrides of Scotland, New South Wales, the east coast of Canada) and mine still appears to be stuck in Canada Customs in Richmond BC, where it has been since the 10th of October. 8 days in customs so far. Usually only takes 2 to 3 days to get through customs? Will still be another 3 to 4 days after being released for it to get to me. Probably go down to the post office today and get them to check the tracking, Canada Post tracking has been down off and on the last week or so?

Thanks for all your hard work, Barry and Charlie!

Yes! BIG thanks to Barry as well! I left you out in my last post. But the intent was there Barry. [emoji16]

Thanks guys! It's a lot of effort, but worth every bit! :D

FWIW, I received my CC SFO #10 HJ yesterday and there are NO problems with it at all. And the pulls are perfect to me. It is actually a bit surprising because once you have the knife in hand you can see how slim it is and what a precision alignment is required to get all of that to fit in that slim package. I also want to say how much I love the Gabon Ebony wood scales . . . I confess to having a wood fetish. :o Most the other CC SFO HJs I have are also in Ebony, so this one fits right in.

Like some others have commented, I wish the punch was a tad bigger. Not a big deal, and really the only thing I would think about changing. I'm not going to say this is my favorite of all of the CC SFO HJs - tough to beat #8. But it might very well be the best one so far for everyday carry due to the slim profile and light weight. Pretty much a perfect size AFAIAC. This really is one to throw into your pocket and forget about until you need it.

I was late to the party on the BF knife, so I have not received it yet. But based on this one, I have high hopes for that one, too.

I think you guys did a great job with this. Although I am still waiting on mine I know the wait will be worth it after seeing these posts.

Both My Forum Knife & My C.C. /S.F.O. H.J. #10 we're a few day's longer getting to me then usual and they both spent a few extra days at customs. Must be backed up for some reason. Mine both came out great so I hope yours does too Dan.:D

Hey t.willy, did your knives come through Richmond BC customs, or through customs out east. I think there are only 2 locations that mail comes through customs into Canada, Richmond and Toronto??, I think.
Thanks
Dan
