The 2016 knives have landed!

Hey t.willy, did your knives come through Richmond BC customs, or through customs out east. I think there are only 2 locations that mail comes through customs into Canada, Richmond and Toronto??, I think.
Thanks
Dan
Really cool thanks I never knew that. Mine came threw Toronto both of them did about 4 day's apart.

My knives showed up today. Have absolutely no complaints with either of them. Punch and master blades all open properly with about the right pull. Both sharp enough out of the tube to cut paper. Love the bone jigging and colour. I got one that is a little darker and one that is a little lighter. Now have to decide which one to put away and which to put in my pocket.
Many thanks to Charlie for perservering through all the discussion and liasing with GEC to get this done and to Barry for once again handling all the shipping. Also to Liam for the great artwork on the tube.

I took my 35 to Florida last week, and at some point the punch acquired a bit of pitting. That was the push I needed to start using this knife. Up until now I was trying to keep it pristine.

My main blade actually had one "patina" spot on it right away... kind of a blessing in a disguise. This has been carried this past few days with now worries now.

^^Those nuts are native pecans , small but tasty

Exactly. The big hybrid pecans are easier to shell. The little natives taste better, but I seldom manage to get the meat out in one piece. Hence the use of the nut-pick. :)

Lol, just trying to have some fun in here...

Ah! You done confused us with your sarcasm. :D

(I've seen a few recipes for acorn jelly, but it looks like a crazy amount of work.)

R8shell-do I remember rightly, that you have the S&M model hj with 2(as opposed to my 3) blades? I know it was a double spring, but how would you compare them? It's a similar configuration, and I wondered what your thoughts would be, pocketability, heft, whatever.
Thanks, Neal
Ps-if I recall incorrectly, sorry. And I won't even make any jokes about nuts.

I can't seem to access Photobucket today, or I'd post some pictures, and when I get a chance I want to take a few shots comparing them. The S&M is a much bulkier knife. I'd expect it to be wider because of the two-spring construction, but it seems to have a lot of extra room in the well. And it's stainless steel, of course.

You have a three blades version? I didn't know they made those, what's the third blade?

That would be a Spey blade. They were in the following years collection, I believe. Either that or the year before yours. :D Not to sound all know it all-y.

Were the three blades are on two springs? That might explain why the Harness Jack is so wide, if they wanted to use the same pattern for a stockman style three-blader.

Here's a quick comparison shot. No danger of blade rub there. :D

I like both of them, but the GEC is lighter in the pocket than the S&M, for sure.

Heck, the S&M even threw in a spacer in the frame for extra, extra room!
