I could have used your help tonight, Sam, rehandled a katana and had a bear of a time getting the tang hole cut in!

The tang hole as in, the hole in the tang itself or the hole through the wood?

Hidden tang, hole into the wood. Figured being a sword guy you'd have some tricks. And long handles are a PITA to keep straight on the centerline.

I have mine laid out.The billet is sitting in the smithy. I'll do some of the forging to shape in two weeks, at the two day demo in Surry,VA.
All I'll say is that it has 1300 layers, will have a LONG blade, several sharp edges, and would make any samurai proud.

I have a dealership for the ash poles, but the shipping is stupid expensive. I have to figure out how to make that work.

OK, the blade is forged and now ready for draw filing,sanding,HT,etc. Another 30-40 hours and this baby will be ready to make Sam put his puny weapon back in the truck.

I'm really looking forward to this trip. I'll finally get to meet many of you face to face ( in some cases that may not be so good, but what the He!!, you only live once).

Man, I haven't even started. With everything I have going on it's not looking good for me completing one....
