The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Do you have any information that you would share on Friday sales of Shivs? For instance, how many will be available, will they be trickled out a few at a time or in a relatively larger group, possible time frame. I’m considering selling some other pieces to get one but wanted to weigh the probability of actually scoring one before I did that. Thanks in advance for your response.

I am not sure. It depends on how fast we can finish them. They are getting a lot of hand grinding, it is a slow process.

Nathan,
I have a question for you about the Shiv in it's
Double edged dagger ground form has anyone ordered a Shiv with the double edged dagger ground point if so could you post some pictures of it? thanks for your time and help!...

Those have not started heat treat yet. ;)

Does the previous pre-order list hold any weight with the upcoming pre-order or is it another free-for-all? I was close last time!

That's a good question. I think it should.

Perhaps you should only allow people who posted in the original sale thread on June 10th, 2022 but were past the cutoff point, to post in the new sale thread for the first day, then open it up to everyone else?

And that way the sale would be open for at least 24 hours and one minute...

That's one of the few woods denser than water, listed at 1.12 g/ml so it should sink without hesitation.
ETA I guess the Argentine stuff is dense also. You might need to look at the wood database where they describe the smell and other aspects.

So, just curious; Would you leave out those of us who committed to buying one of the K20’s in the interest poll thread, which was well BEFORE the pre-order, and then missed out in the unexpectedly rapid pre-order? Without those commitments, the pre-order likely wouldn’t have even happened.

I kind of feel like those people (and yes, I would be one of them) might be nearer the front of the line in the next pre-order… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have an actual question; am I understanding correctly that the 2024 CPK Clusterf*ck is going to be in October?
Nathan, why can’t this NOT be during hunting season? :(

Yeah, i think the feathering of the grain, color, and the pores point to verawood.
I would definitely agree.

Nathan,

Does it annoy you that there is a lot of “chatter” in the ANAQ thread?
#ClearlyNotNathan

He's reminded folks on several occasions when they post off-topic meanderings...but the message doesn't appear to sink in. Whether he is "annoyed" or not, I couldn't say.

I know that when, (on a couple of those occasions), I've moved some of the "chatter" from "ANAQ" to "Random", he's texted me and said "thank you".

Draw your own conclusions.

ETA:

Several posts from the past couple of days have been moved to Random since this post was made earlier.

Question for Nathan (or Jo, or anyone who knows) -- what kind of epoxy would have been used on scales on a MC Dek1 that were epoxied on at the shop? Would the screws have been epoxied as well? Trying to figure out if removing them is feasible without messing up the blade (and preferably saving the scales and screws as well...)

Those were done with West 105.

No, that's not coming off.
