I notice the big "hits" are on folks overseas. Perhaps they seem more vulnerable. But if they had a U.S. lawyer - say no more than fifty miles away from the suspect and with extensive civil trial experience, willing to sue with no counsel fees, they might not look so vulnerable.

Think about it, Mr. Balda. Life can get far more complicated.

I've been a member here for a while now and pop in now and then but I spend most of my time on the UK knife sites. I thought I'd just take the time to let you know a little more about me. I'm only a small part time dealer/purveyor, the UK scene just isn't big enough to support you full time. I've bought some great knives from American makers over the last five years and never had an issue with funds so this is a double whammy for me not only am I $1000 out of pocket at the mo but my trust has taken a knock. How am I going to feel next time I try and make a deal with someone overseas. The knock-on effect of poor traders to others is another issue this raises.

I'm hoping and it's my gut feeling that Tims not a crook who deliberatly set out to defraud us but just someone who struggles to get his shit together and will make things right for us.

Hello Everyone,

A couple of things:

1. Ren has been taken care of. That will be resolved when the US mail does its job.
2. Victor has also been taken care of. This will be resolved when the folks with the US Mail and the delivery people in Brazil also complete the task.
3. Mike has been taken care of also. He may not have received my email as of this writing, but I have resolved things with his situation also.

These folks are entitled to my very best, which they did not get. They will be taken care of to the best of my ability because they deserve the best.

Well, you are good in my books....I will do my best to find some way of supporting you in the coming years......;)

Tim, I'm sorry that you have had to endure all of those hardships. Hopefully things will improve for you in the future.

As far as Amherst Cutlery is concerned, I hope that you are able to keep things going. I am still interested in knowing if your knives are produced in the US. Your website doesn't have that information.

Tim,

I wish the very best with Amherst, I do hope you can continue. I can empathize with you because of my own personal situation. My company of 22 years is also suffering because of no good deadbeats and others not paying. Some because that is what they are and some because they are not being paid. You always treated me right and I always had faith in you to work things out.

Tim all the best to you and your family, if you have nothing else, family is the most important. I do hope you stay around the forums, not everyone here is mean and hurtful.

Get well soon and start back grinding.
Jim

i am concerned about repeated complaints about non-delivery. it sounds like things have been rough for mr balda. i hope things improve for him and all these issues are resolved.

the court case referenced in pappy1959 post shows the plaintiff's case (banyan bay) was dismissed with prejudice. what actually happened here?

type in banyan bay into the lorain county court records shows 42 lawsuits involving banyan bay inc and another company named BANYAN BAY GENERAL CONTRACTORS with timothy balda often listed as a co-defendant. in fact 40 of the 42 cases lists banyan bay as a defendant.

type in timothy balda and you get 63 records. 59/63 have timothy balda as the defendant. a case from 3/10/09 (09CJ036585) shows a judgement of $70,000+ against timothy balda.

do all these cases involve you pappy1959?

That's certainly more than enough for one family man to have on his plate during the past few years. At least you recognize the value of your family and friends in these times. Keep them close and restart your knife business when better times come around into your life.

Tim

thank you for your post. I can relate to your situation. when the carver arrives in the mail I will keep this knife and there is no need to send me a check. your money is at a premium and i hope things will improve. the lesson learned here for everyone is communication is key. It is not my intention to be mean swhen therpirited and in hindsight pobably should not have questioned where the origin of these knives were made, but it was a rumor I had heard and when communication is nil then one starts to wonder. when I recieve the knife for me this issue is resolved.

I only tell you all this information because I'm sore, tired and seriously thinking that none of this is worth it. Without knowing anything about me or what has been going on, many are willing to condemn me, gossip, make up stories, and generally pitch in to hurt me. People I don't know even know, and don't know me, are making legal threats and physical threats. While the forum is an interesting place, it is also a place for ugly hateful people to congregate.

Communication is key , just as you were upset with Buck owing you $$ for product , the people who posted here were upset for paying $$ and not receiving product.

Please don't fault an online forum due to your lack of communication with paying customers. When people feel they have been wronged ( especially without any communication ) , they will speak up to warn others.

Hopefully you will continue , one of your knives has been on my want list for awhile now.

for the record I never threatened Tim with physical violence or legal action. I just wanted to know what was going on. I will not be made into a bad guy in this situation.:(

If any one did threaten actual physical violence shame on you:(

I'm not a lawyer. Could you speak to why the case against Buck was dismissed?

Sorry for your hardships.

Tim, I will pray for you. I hope things get better for your health, and I hope everything else in your life works out for you. I believe it will.

Tim what you need to remember is that we want you to succeed, we invested our hard earned cash in YOU because we can see a product that looks great.

All you need to do to succeed is do what you say your going to do when you said you'd do it and if you can't, be honest about it and tell the peoplle who need to know ASAP. And then keep telling them any other time they ask.

If your having a bad time with the website may I suggest you consider changing over to a template driven site hosted by a third party company. It may not have all the functionallity you want but at least it'd be easier for you to run. If you can operate word you can operate a site like that.

what surprises me more than Mr. Balda's frequent documented lying, is that so many otherwise intelligent, experienced BF members, fall for it again and again.
his most recent post is more manipulative BS. anybody with such a long and ongoing list of excuses, is devious and not being honest. is your life that messed up ? have you had that many court cases to deal with in your life ?
i doubt it.
without making any accusations, i suggest all of you 'dreamers' google "personality disorder', and read some reputable articles giving the standard characteristics of this group of disorders. perhaps then you will re-assess your opinions. note also that the natural history of PD is unlike that of many psychiatric disorders, in that it does not improve over time, and to date, no treatment has been found effective in changing behaviour.
but please note: i am not a psychiatrist, but if there is one who reads this thread, please comment.
