Bad THE BAD Will Moon

My review of the Will Moon experience.

I finally got my refund today after returning the Mk10, thus bringing the matter to a close.
Prior to returning the knife, Will insisted that the knife had passed inspection before shipping, but offered to fix it up anyway after hearing my complaints.

However, he then changed his mind and decided to refund me instead right after
I posted my thoughts on the thread with pictures of the defects - as he felt it was an insult to his reputation.
Despite it not being my initiative to ask for a refund this time (which I did before),
I concurred that it was all for the better since the knife had failed
to ship as promised (twice) and then came to me with issues that I cannot resolve on my own.
He wrote me a long apology for his brash behavior, and after receiving the knife back in his hands, admitted that it was less than perfect due to his oversight on QC and not as a result of shipping as he had originally perceived.

As I now no longer own the knife, it would be unfair to comment any further since the specs would have changed by the time he has corrected all the issues.
But in my short time with the Mk10, I had suggested to Will a couple of simple design improvements
(namely Chamferring the thumb groove on lockbar / Deburring the flipper tab) that I'm glad he'll be incorporating into future builds whichever he sees fit.

Nonetheless, the observations that I had previously posted still represents my overall negative impressions of Will and his product, from which ranged from almost instantaneous responses (before the payment), to sudden swings of tantrum and intense words for which I'd rather not go into detail.
It was a polarizing experience to say the least, with much frustration growing out of his inability to respond to emails in a timely manner.
I even made a few attempts to contact him when I noticed that he was active on IG just
minutes away, but could not get him to reply.
It left me hanging from a customer’s perspective, and given that I had paid for the knife without delay, his communication post-payment, unfortunately left much to be desired.
Perhaps some might get the same experience, some might not. Eventually, praises and criticisms are dished out in fair share.
There's no enemies or friends in the market, just lost customer confidence.

As others have pointed out, and partly due to my lack of knowledge of his knives, for the prices he charges (at least the "Elite" model that I purchased),
one could have gotten something else at a fraction of the price and likely come with a wider selection of steels or more exotic materials on the top.
So whether or not his knives are worth the time and money, I think it is really up to the individual.
I'm a firm believer that design, workmanship, and overall communication is what keeps a customer vested on a maker.
Any of these factors falling out of the equation is a formula for disaster, the high price only makes it less bearable.

In the end, I spent almost $50 bucks on shipping, lost time, and learnt the hard way.

dude should do right by his customers all the time. not just when/if it suits him. His bad reputation is well deserved imho. the worse part is he still does/acts the same way that earned him the bad rep. stop giving this MAN YOU $$ !

Nope Your wrong & i am so glad you are too Karda.:D He tried to defend himself & I nailed him to the cross for doing it too.

This is about WARNING folks to steer clear of you. Frankly you are the type of knife maker that other makers talk about badly & with good reason. I make it a point to let people know a CHARLATAN is who they are dealing with.

at this point in your career as a knife maker.

You even partially admit to your actions; if folks knew all the gory details they would avoid you like the Plague and rightly so imho !

@knife dragon, good job bro. maybe if more people called bad makers like this out and let everyone know about threads like this, I wouldn't of gone through what I did. Thanks and its really appreciated
 
There are enough people on IG propping Will up. He selectively makes quality knives for well known and highly followed knife dudes and they sing his praises.
 
I don't have a dog in this fight, but I can say that he is pimping his knives a lot on another forum I frequent, most often so in the knife pictures thread. The forum is an original version having to do with AR-15's. I tried to link this G,B, &U thread to the moderators over there, and received no response.

I hate to put down anyone, but I think this is a pretty accurate assessment of the guy. He bought a rare/expensive production knife from us at a very reasonable price, and in spite of my shipping terms, he insisted I overnight it to him because [the knife], he claimed, was a time-sensitive gift for someone. I left work early when I really couldn't afford to, just to make sure it would reach him the next day as expected. Turns out I find he's trying to flip the knife for a profit the same day he received it, it was already up for sale. Why lie about it being a gift? I am disgusted about it to this day. Nothing anyone says here will convince Dingbat to change his ways. Though group therapy is a good outlet for everyone to express their frustrations, don't expect to reform a pathological, self-agrandizing narcissist.

Exactly. I have no respect for any knife maker that flips knives for a profit. He regularly posts over priced production knives on his site, such as zt888s etc.

He has done that to people here too, quite often and in other venues as well. It's far from being a secret or a put down, rather it is stating the truth.
 
if you search 'will moon' in google this thread pops up front page, but not if you search 'will moon knives' (that's what i would type if i was looking for info on the guy and his knives). not sure if there is a way to change that. peace

So I'm pretty sure I just caught will moon using a fake account to bash another maker and promote himself on IG. One of the maker on the planet was holding an auction for a new knife. I was bidding on it and it's around $4000. Anyways some guy with a private account writes a post that the knife is not worth it and if you wanted quality but a will moon custom. He said will moon's knife were 2x the quality at a fraction of the prices. Lmao, it sounds exactly like how moon would post with a fake account. Why would someone even bring him up when there are literally hundreds of makers a billion times better.

Will Moon is a joke and will never learn.
 
Ha I saw that to... Even if the IG poster isn't Moon and thinks he makes good knives, you'd have to be a fool not to realize the maker running the auction is on another level completely
 
Here is an update:

I had a guy contact me on IG asking what I thought of will moon knives and why I didn't have one in my collection. He sent me a link to his Facebook. I am delighted to see he has knives in there that aren't selling and he has other makers knives on there for sale. To me it means our efforts to spread the word about how bad he is has worked.
 
Since payment was made by Credit Card you can contact your card company for a reversal of the charge, if you wanted to get a refund.
