Bad THE BAD Will Moon

I also have an experience that I never publicly shared.
I purchased his purple Mk6 for $900 several months ago... this one
3f6m.jpg

A similar shipping experience to the ones posted throughout this thread. I purchased the knife and made full payment because it was a completed knife, ready to ship. He's quick to email me for the money and quick to email me to tell me that he'll ship it out the very next day. That's where the emails stopped. It took nearly a week to get any sort of confirmation that the knife was indeed shipping, and it came from an automated USPS email, not even from Will. Like others, the tracking sat there for roughly 3 more days before it updated. During this entire wait, I had been emailing Will a few times to get updates, with no response. He finally sent an email saying the same story he's told all of you others, that there was a delay and that he intended to ship it sooner blah blah.
Anyway, the knife does finally arrive, the quality is BAD. Multiple issues with the fit and finish. When I brought those issues to his attention in an email (including pics of the problems), after several silent days, he responded by saying that I'm being too picky. He said it's a handmade knife so it will have issues...lol. I told him to refund me immediately and that this knife was headed back to him. I didn't get a reply for another day or so, surprise surprise, so I filed a PayPal complaint. Refund in my account within an hour :D haha
Immediately after the refund, I log in to instagram to just do other instagram stuff, and find that I've been banned from his IG page. Log in to facebook to find the same thing with his FB page. He silenced me before I could even call him out!

Yep, so I got a mk7 in a trade while waiting for mine to be made (which was always the next one for a month). I got it from a member here who lied about the lock rock. Anyway, I got it and felt that it was worth $200 (if it didn't have lock rock). I intercepted my knife and told will I want him to cancel mine on order.

He doesn't respond for a day or so. I file a PayPal dispute, he responds shortly afterwards telling me how disappoibted and angey he is for me doing that and that I am not even protected anymore (pp protection is gone after 4 months).

He is shocked that I would 'judge' a knife that has not yet been made then tells me that I can never order a knife from him again because he doesn't sell to people that 'flake' on a knife that he spent time on....see the contradiction?

Anyway, he says that he will refund me when he lines up another buyer of the imagined knife. A few days later, I get refunded.

You guys should get hit more, google a guy before sending an unknown hack a few hundred dollars for his homemade wares.

Will Moon has long been known as a pisspoor "knifemaker," and a worse businessman.

There was a substantial conversation about this idiot at Jerzee Devil and his lack of communication as well as his absence of skill. He made knifelike objects and sold them for $700-1500 to people silly enough to pay those prices believing skill, workmanship and experience can be replaced by a CNC mill and a YouTube channel.

He apparently is also very good at convincing his current crop of (mainly) young and inexperienced buyers to keep quiet or he'll ban them from his YouTube or Instagram channels. Ever wonder why you never saw a negative comment there?

Look up Alan Blade, he's got a hundred page thread here somewhere, about how he skipped from forum to forum, scamming people for money, never delivering, and his new crop of pigeons defended him steadfastly against the old, all the while not yelling "So Where IS My Knife!" The technology of communication has changed, and the technology of the scammer evolved with it.

The information is out there, but how about this....before spending a G-note on a knife which is only seen on Instagram or a forum, and you can't find anyone actually USiNG one, ask yourself Why Not?

This last is not intended as criticism, but as warning or reminder....Will Moon is merely the latest Ponzi artist at BFC but someone else will be along. Don't perpetuate the issue....if you cannot get your $$ or knife, or communications from him, interrupt every thread he's posting in asking where it is, in addition to immediately filing a claim with PayPal or your card service provider. Make it uncomfortable wherever he is, and if you see him elsewhere, post away. He can remove the static at his acct on YouTube, but he sure can't here, at JD or when you privately inform a few moderators at another forum complete with links.

Just thoughts. Do as you Will with him. But don't support him. And paypal will protect you if you can point out a continuous pattern of scam.

One other thing while I think of it...why the hell would you or anyone pay for a knife which has not been made? A few dollars for materials, sure.....maybe. Maybe $50-75....but here is not much in the way of materials which goes into a knife, the cost is in the workmanship and the maker's skill.

Contrast Bill Moran, 25-30 years backlogged, one knife at a time, or this tool. Make your decision from there.

Main problem with 'search for him' is that you don't search for 'FriskyDingo', it is not apparent that he is a scamming sociopath.

I make sure I tell every knife nut that I know and tell then to tell every knife nut that they know. I got my money back, but I'm not done with him.

I promise I'm not Will :) I use the forum to learn as a spectator I guess. I have my own IG account. http://instagram.com/jimmyhendrix87

I'm just relaying my own experiences. In terms of his post, Will happens to be articulate......I'm sure it's genuine.

Forums can be pretty intense. I think his apology speaks for itself, and comes from a sincere place. I'm sure he's open to reconcile if people give him a chance.
only

Sorry, but I think his apology is a load of crap. Actions speak louder than words and the only people that were able to read his "apology" are people that have no issues with him. Anyone who has an issue has been blocked from his IG and FB feeds. I didn't even have an issue with him and he blocked me from his feeds because I deigned to imply that he didn't invent the blue polished ZT-801 anodizing mod. This is a desperate attempt to keep his scam going because so many people have been cancelling their orders and asking for refunds.

I was thinking the same thing, until I saw his join date!! Maybe Will saw this coming and made up a bunch of accounts??

318xi's join date was also back in 2011 or 2012. So he set up many shill accounts. For what reason we can only speculate.

I have (entirely too much) experience on other forums that I was a huge particpant in, back before I was as heavily into knives as I am now (and thus spend all my time here on BF). After having read this whole thread, Will's actions remind me an awful lot of something you'd see on a automotive forum. Where there's a forum dedicated to performance cars, there'll be scammer scumbags like Will here who do pretty much everything he's done here. From lying about mailing paid-for stuff out, to repeated "My life has been awful, but I'm going to make it right! From now on! You'll see!" aggrandized statements, right down to the creation of multiple other usernames so he can come in and defend himself by pretending to be other people defending him. It's literally a play by play that I've seen played out elsewhere.

For one thing, I find it hard to believe that people were paying this scumbag $900 up front. What?! That sure doesn't pass the sniff check, and any knife-maker who demanded an entire payment up front for an item that hadn't been made yet wouldn't be getting my business.

In any case, it's good to see that the Moderation staff, and members are onto this guy's shady BS games. I mean, $900 a pop? Up front? So, you have some college doof driving around in a BMW*Three Series with a pocket full of other peoples' cash and people wonder why this guy doesn't meet timelines? Sheez, might it have something to do with the fact that he's too busy essentially living the dream college kid life? Not much need for a part time job when A. your parents have money and B. there are idiots on the Internet throwing big cash in your face to the tune of $900 each for knives that are essentially sight unseen, people who can be pushed off for months with weak promises and sad sack stories.

So, dude's got a pocket full of other people's cash, and he's gotta study, he's been busy! So, stop emailing him, he'll have your knife soon, he promises. Dude, he just sent it out, relax, here's the tracking number. Don't worry, it'll ACTUALLY go out in a week or so, because you know, there aren't any actual, you know, mailboxes on campus, right? Sheesh, pushy-ass customers! Always being demanding! G O E F F Y O U R S E L V E S (because that was a cute trick, right?)

Right? LOL Everything about this kid is garbage. Dude's living the life, and the product people paid for is an afterthought to him.

*Albeit a crapbox base model Three Series

I mean, criminy. Most of us reading this are either in college, or have graduated. I'm the latter. I knew plenty of college kids who were supported by their parents who didn't do a damn thing. Sleep in all morning, stumble out of bed, hit the gym, go sit by the apartment complex pool, then head out that night for another all-nighter of clubhopping with his dudebros. Ten bucks says Will Moon here is doing the same thing. And honestly, it probably started out innocently at first. Guy took a few orders, figured that he'd get to them later. Partying every night, going to the occasional class, having a good time, and suddenly a month's gone by and no knife-work has been performed and people are starting to ping him to find out where he is on their stuff. Now he's getting emails, and feels like he's being pressured, or attacked. So, that's when the overall slide into worthlessness started: when he started feeling like customers should just pay him money, and then eff off back where they came from until he's ready, and don't send him any hassle before then, because he's an artist, this stuff takes time! As though that was the treatment he was entitled to. Punk couldn't have been more wrong.

There's a certain video reviewer that also spoke very highly of Will and probably shot a ton o business his way. "Do whatever you have to do but buy this knife" or some shit like that...

That's exactly when I first heard of Will and shortly after purchased the Mk6 I did. Lesson learned.

Thankfully, after receiving my refund, turned that money towards an RJ Martin Q36...now THAT is a proper knife worth every penny.

Agreed...RJs work is so far beyond Wills it's not even funny. Said reviewer should post a retraction I think....

^ I don't believe this guy ISN'T Will. I have known about FriskyDingo for a while, and it was common knowledge that when he first started pimping knives his favorite two knives were in fact the BM Skirmish and the Rukus. And what do we have in the IG account? Well, well. Rukus and Skirmish abound.

Dude...I'm not Will. I think he's admittedly 22 or 23 . Why would he make an old universal account name (I use it for my email, youtube etc.) that has a date that would make him 27. Ask Dalibor Bergam about my account name if you must. I saw Will's IG post...and thought I'd share it, since he's banned on this forum. Regardless of what people know, it's obvious that the guy is under allot of heat. FrinskyDingo wasn't a scam account. Everybody knew it was Will. His name, email and youtube account was posted in the bottom bar. In terms of BF, I wouldn't call using anonymous emails on an anonymous forum scamming. I say that with humility, because I know that the moderators on this forum really don't like that kind of thing. Also, I can understand why someone may be perturbed if he was representing himself as someone other than Will. However, I think it's a difficult situation when people who've pretty much made up their minds, want to literally destroy you(not passing judgment), whether they've dealt with you or not. People are clearly upset, and I think his IG announcement, and it's commitment to his future actions, is all that he can do. This is only my opinion .

Who was it ?
I think it may do people good to know not to put an ounce of stock in anything he says if he praised Will.

I never watch them, but many do, and need to know IMO.
Thanks.

jim skelton was the guy, and gave an honest dis-like of some of the things about the mk7 he recieved, that bought Jim some credibility in my book...will is fixing his "pickiness" as the knife still seemed pretty nice via video.....

I'm the last of the mk7 orders, Will has kept in touch with me....though has missed a few "deadlines"

I will report on the quality of it, and I knew about frisky dingo going in......I like the design and knew he has been trying to clean up this image, unsure of how whole heartedly he is doing this but am giving him a chance

the allure of a real custom from someone who has a great design was too much to resist at the time, if he screws me I will help in this burial of Will Moon

I don't understand why some of you are wanting to keep giving Will chances, the evidence is clearly overwhelming not to. So much so that Will even posted his short comings in an attempt to keep a failing customer base. If I had an order with him and read this thread and the way he talks to his customers I would cancel it immediately and get a refund.

I have only had one custom knife experience like this and I would NEVER EVER consider ordering from that maker again, even though I still like some of his designs.

Good post. I would also like to add that there is no comparison between RJ Martin and this guy.

Most definitely no comparison. Something I learned the instant my Q36 was in my hand for the first time.
I think it did me good to have my Moon experience to make me appreciate even more the RJ Martins, the Pohan Leus, the Dustin Turpins (just to name a few) of the knife community.

Jim was pretty honest in that video and even stated in a later video that he has had some issues with Will Moon regarding another order. He has also been pretty open about the backlash that he has received in the knife community about outing a semi well known knife maker for doing shoddy work. Which is one of the reason why as a collector, I don't like to openly complain to much and end up getting my orders dropped.
