Bad THE BAD Will Moon

Jim was pretty honest in that video and even stated in a later video that he has had some issues with Will Moon regarding another order. He has also been pretty open about the backlash that he has received in the knife community about outing a semi well known knife maker for doing shoddy work. Which is one of the reason why as a collector, I don't like to openly complain to much and end up getting my orders dropped.

If the maker you are "collecting" has issues which cannot be resolved without you putting them out in the open, what makes you believe his or her work is worth collecting in the first place? And what about when you have a problem with his work in the future?

Pay for your orders via credit or debit card (Visa, MC, et) and they will stand behind you in the event of fraud or similar problems. There are far too many good, talented and upstanding makers to waste your time and effort on a hack like this guy, whose track record across the net as both Will Moon and Frisky Dingo are far too widespread for him to shove it under the rug.

Here's a hint tho for newbies....if the guy has no track record, he's not worth the same $$ as an RJ Martin or Tom Mayo.....materials and a web site do not make a quality "collectible" knife, skill, engineering talent, design talent and workmanship make a good knife which may be collectible.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but if Will Moon decides tomorrow that knife making is not for him and never decides to touch another one again. I can almost guarantee that his work whether it was perfect or flawed is going to increase in value. Having had an RJ Martin i don't think they are equal value to a Stan Wilson or Gustavo Cecchini, but the free market is making them so. It comes down to the buyer whether dealing with Will Moon is worth it to them to have one in the collection. I buy knives, not the owners or makers.. Just don't act like Will Moon is the only knife maker that acts like this. I would advise that dealing with anyone to always protect yourselves no matter what reputation the person has.

"Flawed" work by a maker with a lousy reputation for integrity is guaranteed by you to go up in value if he stops making? That "almost" is prudent.

No probably drop like a lead ballon. There are makers that used to rock. After they were done with their reputation- you can't give their knives away today.

There are a new wave of people that don 't know any better. They will ignore warnings because they have a ridiculous fantasy that they will be appreciated for unwavering trust.

Hi all,

I am the buyer of the knife from Recalcitrant American, who is a stand-up guy. When I received it, the pivot wasn't holding true and because it was a pretty expensive knife for me and only a month or so old; I decided to contact Will for repair. I saw the Skelton video too (go Jim) and became a believer. Will contacted me and agreed to repair the blade-- full disclosure I also asked if he could make me another set of scales which he said he would be happy to do. I send the knife out and paid him promptly for the scale upgrade. That was two months ago and I have not heard back other than confirming he received the knife. Prior to reading this thread, I really hadn't thought much about it. I am more concerned now. The thing that has bothered me the most is posts by him on FB about what is going on, the new monthly knife sale (no more order book) and new products. I don't mind waiting, but I do mind being ignored. What has been going through my mind is that he has time to communicate somewhat regularly on FB and does not have time to respond to my emails with a simple, "Sorry, I am running behind, but haven't forgotten about you".

As far as I am concerned, the knife is a writeoff

Have you contacted him thru IG? He answered me thru IG

Brother, I'm so sorry he is giving you the run around. He assured me he would fix his mistake as soon as he got it and then ship it back. Again, I'm so sorry I didn't catch it. Please keep me posted. Any postage you had to pay please let me know and I will gladly send you money to cover the shipping or any other funds you've lost.

Sean

Sean, thanks for the support. You are good. We will see what happens.

Man I'm bummed to hear this from you. I was seriously considering sending the mk7 back to him but honestly know he wouldn't send it back right or maybe at all. Will moon is good at talking but horrible at actually doing anything. Just the post in this thread proves that.

If I were you blast him on fb and ig until he deletes your post like I saw he did a couple peoples, that should get his attention.

Well it's officially been over a month since Will purchased the postage for my 801 and it still hasn't entered a mailbox yet. Incredible...

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately that is his patented move. From reading and my experience that is his delay tactic or he sold your knife and is trying to make another.

My recommendation for anyone with a knife from him that is faulty is to use a credit card company (if you used it to buy from him) or PayPal (if you are within 4 month period) to force a refund.

Will has no business being in the knife business, he is a pathological liar and has demonstrates foe years that he has no intention of doing right by his 'customers'. He treats customers as unlimited (and interest free) investors.

I received my mk7 custom, of course not in time frame but it is a fine knife....I'm happy with it and communication was spotty but sufficient

Hi all,

I thought in the interest of fairness I would provide an update. I heard from Will this morning and he says he has fixed the centering issues which he said was a "30 second job". He says he is insanely busy and will produce a new scale for me the next time he runs Mark 6 scales (no commitment on time). This isn't what we originally agreed to, but it is progress. I will keep everyone up to date. I am sure this thread had someone to do with his response along with Recalitrant American also sending him an email. I do think this is a great example of this community at work. So I will take progress over nothing.

Thanks,

Bannor

Man, I'm sorry, I don't mean to make light of a crappy situation, but that made me laugh out loud! He's got his own move, just like Frank Costanza:

Again, no offense, but it just cracked me up. Sorry for your predicament.

It irritates the Hell out of me that this piece of trash is still running his FB and IG page like if nothing ever happened. I suggest anyone who has a facebook or instagram account go to his page and call him out in front of all his followers.
