The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Maybe this has been asked before (I'm still working my way through this thread) but what's your favorite Shiro from a looks perspective? They're all gorgeous, but what's your #1?

For me, it's one of the least expensive models - the F3 in olive micarta with orange accents. Just perfect! I might have to pick one up

I have 7 number ones.

I posted my Python, but really am in agreement with you, brother. Picking a favorite from my 7 is like picking a favorite child--love 'em all! :D

Couldn’t agree more, I use the F95NL more than the rest, but that’s because it’s a work knife. But then again, the F95 nudist is running a close second.

I finally visited R1 for the first time ever this Saturday to pick up my lottery "winning" of CD F95 Chinese White Tiger. Nice small boutique (no where near the large size of that cutlery store in southern Orange County, CA which name escapes me now!). Their place is in a typical strip mall with movie theaters, restaurants and lots of other businesses in the city of Encino in Los Angeles.

There were many, many opened Shiros in the displays adorning their displays but sadly I didn't have enough time to do sone major tire-kicking so to speak. Now that I know exactly where they are located, I will allow more time the next time when I visit the La-La land. There were so many deployed and opened 111s and boy do I miss my 111CF. I miss not having my folding pocket-sword :(

Wow!! Last time i posted in this thread i had 4 Shiros, a hati on washers, a hation, a 95CF, and a 95NL. Now im down to one (95NL)...the opposite direction as everyone else. Lol.
Let me explain...lol...hation was too small for my hand and felt a little awkward, the 95CF and the Hati went to really good friends of mine who wanted them much more than i did. Reason...that freaking 95T...it has been evading me since it was released (mind you i had the opportunity to buy one way way above msrp). I basically wrote it off until...

...last saturday!! Im happy to be back to two Shiros now, and am excited to hopefully own a Neon Zero someday.
I love the Den, and congrats to all you guys with such beautiful Shiro collections.

(Special thank you to two of my good friends for hooking me up with this beauty)
*also a thank you to ChazzyP ChazzyP for always answering my shiro questions. It is appreciated.

Keep ‘em Sharp!

Certainly don't want to diminish Pharma's acquisitive nature and results, but my vote goes to our ursa08 ursa08 . With his outstanding collection and impressive stature, he's our Russian Bear for sure, but a kind soul and a bit of a teddy himself. o_O
Russian Bear :) I like it ;)

ChazzyP I think I would have to agree with you that Vlad is probably one of the best Shiro collectors I know. He has an amazing collection, at least of what I've seen. He has a ton of knowledge about Shirogorov and is a great person too.

That is a great knife. I have always lusted after the F3 in orange g10 with blue accents. My favorite that I own is my Bear's edition 111 and the CF RDD.

Love this knife/bead combo. That python micarta is awesome.
Still learning something new about Shirogorov Knives ;)

The lottery for the newest iteration of CRK/Shiro CD UG collabs (this one is a run of only ten Hati's) is now on the website of the main Shiro US authorized vendor and boy oh boy, they sure do look beautiful. Sadly unreachably priced for me personally, but IMO genuinely beautiful-looking.

Anyone in here win any of these Shiro/CRK collabs? I just got an email thanking me for my participation which was a very nice was of saying, "thanks but no cigar!".

After "winning" the W.T. special edition, I was certain that I was on a roll :D

I didn’t enter and I was on vacation forgetting to check in before the last minute. Initially I thought having won the last two that maybe I should sit this one out . That being said they are beauties and it was realllly hard to sit it out. Congrats to everyone who scored.

That's definitely a sweet one, CPP CPP . F3R with MRBS, milled liners, CF, M390--checks a lotta boxes. Bet that feels just great in hand. :)

Although I've had the RDD for some time it's only just become mine. The few knives that I've purchased second hand I immediately take apart and give a full cleaning. However, the RDD came with a(n) (un)healthy dose of thread locker applied to the pivot–I assume the seller had added it as I haven't had this problem on any of my other Shiros. I could not move it–or rather I could move the entire pivot around and around but not the slotted side independent of the other. I tried a hairdryer, the stove, a work glove with rubber grips to no avail. The slot was now scratched. Shirogorov sent me another pivot screw and I finally set some time to loosen the pivot now that I had a replacement screw and no longer had to worry about preserving the superglued one. I placed the pivot on my glass top electric stove (perhaps the only time I've been glad to have it instead of a gas stove) for a few minutes. I tried to loosen it wearing the glove with rubber grips and, in spite of the rubber burning on contact with the pivot, nothing moved. I left it on the stove for even longer and it moved easily. I took it apart, seeing roller bearings for the first time, and noticed one roller bearing was missing. Fortunately, in a misunderstanding, I was sent a few extra roller bearing along with the pivot screw. I cleaned it thoroughly, lubricated the bearings and reassembled it using the new pivot. Now I have a new knife.

It does. When I first got my Bark River Bravo 1 I was surprised by just how comfortable its grip making it the most comfortable out of all of my knives. I always assumed a full sized fixed blade (as opposed to a smaller one such as the ESEE Izula which I had before it) would have a handle whose comfort a folder could not compare to. The F3R proved that assumption wrong.
