The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Most excellent model indeed, and that particular one is mojo infused.

Serious mojo indeed--makes street cred look like a piddling thing. I trust our friend knoefz knoefz won't mind if I post his excellent NL World Tour map here. The journey starts with the Moscow to Singapore leg.

Welcome to the Den, friend. You're starting off with a really sweet knife and we're looking forward to seeing your pics. Given your membership status, you'll have to use a photo-sharing service like Imgur to post your pics--it's the better way to go anyway--and there are those of us here who will gladly help you get started if you need assistance with the process.

Ah, the World Tour knife. I miss it too, J. :(

Thanks for the warm welcome and the offer with help with posting pics.Very kind!
I am glad to be here.

Here are my first impressions of my new Hation.
Feels really good in the hand. After carry a Large Sebenza for s few years then moving to a F95NL I wasn’t sure if I would like a smaller knife but it is great.
It is super light and I love the carbon fiber. I don’t even realize it is in my pocket. I wear dress slacks everyday and the larger knives have damaged my pockets in the past.
The M390 Steel is nice and the edge has held up with cutting packages and all my wife’s Amazon boxes, haha.
One thing I don’t like is it is very hard to flip open. My CD you can barley touch it and it rifles out. The NL is somewhere between the two.
Also the lock sticks some and this is my first time experiencing that with my Shiros.

Overall it is a great knife and it will see a lot of time in my pocket. I like having a choice to go with a smaller knife.

I checked out that Halloween 111 at R1 just now and it's pretty cool. I like the orange and black G10, am a big fan of Vanax 37, and the pumpkin bear bead is great! Appropriate to the occasion, I didn't want to look earlier and before it was sold out because I was afraid it would scare all the money out of my pocket.

I found myself drawn back to my Old School Tabargan 100NS again today. It's such a utilitarian knife with its 2D coarse black G10 scales and 440C and has become a regular work user along with my SRBS Turtle and Hati on washers. As you may recall, this is my 2nd 100NS--I sold my first as it was too pretty/perfect to carry and am so pleased to have this one which is such a great user. Shiro does a fantastic job with all their steels and their 440C takes a scary sharp edge!

I was going to write to Tom and suggest that for all you've done with the SB logos, World Tour Map, your great pics, and commentary along the way that you deserved to keep the NL. ....
Great idea :D but too much credit buddy. :D

Glad to hear you like it so much! I did enjoy the visual route of the knife myself a lot too. Impressive to see the number of stops a realise how much miles the knife made and nothing bad happened in the mail/customs.

These pics are incredible Knoefz! Were these photos all taken a short distance from each other?
I would love to hike around somewhere I could see that much fungi action.
Thanks buddy. They were all taken in an area called The Veluwe in the Netherlands.
In this season this variety of mushroom is quite common in the woods here.

Did you buy it new or second hand? If second hand perhaps a tune up is in order

I bought it direct from a guy in Russia that i follow on IG. @miroknives. The Hation Zero just came out so I don’t think it needs a tune up. I probably just need to flip it a few hundred more times:-)

Think you're right there. I've heard a few comments about new zero's having stiff detents but breaking in after what you propose to do . Same for any lock stick.

Humble bragging at its best! Can't wait to try one myself. I did notice that my HatiOn Lite doesn't open quite as well as my other full titanium NeOns and Zeros. It feels similar to the LionSteel TREs I've had where it just feels as though it's too light to flip open as aggressively as the full-titanium. Any one else experience this?

My HatiOn Lite was also very stiff in the beginning. The detent was quite strong. After flipping it for a few evenings on the couch (making my wife gone crazy) it is the most smooth knife I’ve ever had. It is free dropping like a hydrolic lift. I disassembled it ones and replaced the standard grease by Nano oil 10w. Love it!

Hi, I am a noob and will be getting my first Shiro on the 1rst.It is a used Shirogorov Hati R Dark Blue Twill Carbon Fiber .
I have been reading this thread and have learned much and look forward to shooting some pics and learning much more.Cheers!

Edit:Breaking my heart news. The Shiro is not going to be in my hands till Monday
due to weather.I just hope all are safe.
The Shiro arrived Monday and was a bit off center so I adjusted the pivot and its dead on.Cleaned the knife today. It was a little grimy on the inside.
Put a little nano oil 10 wt to the bearings and pivot. It opens with very easy positive effort. The blade is clean and looks to never have been sharpened.
The only other flipper I have owned was a Tilt.I loved the tilt but the fit and finish on this Shiro is second to none.
I will post some pics soon......

Everyone's first is special, looking forward to the pictures :)

Really neat work done on this one. Inlay fastened with 2 screws in some inconvenient locations. Sergey showed me some pictures of the CAD models and the front inlay screw actually rests underneath the washer supporting the roller bearings.

Of course the result is spectacular as always.

That is such an amazing knife. The folks at Shiro are so clever.
I have been trying to figure out the right kind of locktite to use on the screws. They just want to keep backing out.
I used a little Permatex blue but it didn't do the job.It may be just an old tube?
