The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Hello all, picked up my first Shiro last weekend and have been carrying it this past week. This is my first foray into higher end folders and I have to say I am hooked, much to the dismay of my bank account. What an amazing tool, the machining, details, action, as all of you know is all incredible. This is going to be a regular user for me so I picked up a model that I think will develop a nice patina over time. I am already eyeballing other models  What does everyone feel would be a nice compliment to this F95NL? I feel this size is basically perfect for me, however it is a touch big for “office” use, so was thinking of a Neon Zero, however the F3R is stunning as well.

Have a good weekend.

The F3R is going to be the same size as the F95NL, a Neon is smaller and would be more of an office knife if the 95 is too big.
I think the HatiON is between the two but closer to size as the Neon

I believe the HatiOn is to the NeOn as the Hati is to the F95--the same size. The new HatiOn Zero and NeOn Zero are just a tiny bit bigger than their older counterparts.

Until I read D dburpasaurus 's qualification regarding office use and size, I was gonna suggest the F3 as something different than the F95 series. Same size, little thicker, and great in hand.

‘Gotcha, I’ve had both, but not at the same time and couldn’t remember. Both were a little too small for my liking.

Yes I think the neon would be better suited for office carry, I was just lusting over another F3 size because for my hands the ergos are excellent.

Question for you all, are the bearing races bi-directional? (Doesn’t matter if they are flipped or not.) They look like it to me but just want to make sure.

Considering they operate in both directions with every opening and closing, I'd say "yes".

That’s not what I mean, I get that they open and close without issue, my question is when taking them out and replacing them, is there a particular side the bearing race needs to face the blade / frame. They look symmetrical to me but just wondering.

Ah! Makes sense.

Yes, I believe they are symmetrical.

My background is working on jet engines and orientation on bearings is important and always related to direction of rotation.

Damn. Maybe I should bite on that Recon 1 lottery deal. I received two offers this past week. But I think I’d rather have the CF HatiOn Lite.

You think? Is a limited run and have the tool that is supposed to work with all the knives
