The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Most sincere congratulations!.. It seems you are the first (or even the only one) in the Den to obtain all 3 of them -- 🌊 🪨 🔥

The Infinity Gauntlet is almost complete 🙃 Should we expect a group photo any time soon? 😉
Not the first or the only on here, I just haven’t posted pics of my trio. The only reason I’ve picked up all three (and will eventually pick up the fourth) is to determine which one I ultimately want to keep and use. For me so far, the winner is actually the Terrus because I like the blade steel and more subtle anodization colors than the other two released to date.

I like S90V and Vanax a lot. I wonder what the next one will be as far as blade steel - Damasteel would be nice, all wavy and looking like “Wind”…

EDIT - my only first was to post a family photo but you can be winner for acquiring 🤗

Sorry, not trying to be a twerp, please don’t take any offense to my earlier post. I don’t think you are, but just in case! I honestly didn’t post a group pic because I figured folks might think I was trying to show off. Here’s a pic of my trio to add to the party. Super excited and curious to see the Air version too, a Damasteel blade would be amazing and I agree very fitting for the theme!

DNAIrradiator DNAIrradiator , nice picture! The lighting conditions allowed to catch the nuances of CF the texture without unwanted highlights.

As for selecting the one to keep -- I'm also keeping my Terrus for the same reasons. From my point of view it has one drawback -- the least practical grind (the smallest choil).

I'd hate to ruin the party, but personally I do not expect any special steel alloy for the Ventus blade 🤔

There's a lot of comments on the maker's website in the Ignis announcement thread, mostly moaning about the knife being sold out within a minute. But some people were also expressing their disappointment with the steel choice for Ignis and pointing out that M390 is not so special.

The later complains were countered by some folks which are closer to the maker then most customers are (I am not saying that they are actually affiliated, just "more equal than others" 😉). So, the mentioned folks explicitly noted that "this set is not about exotic steel".

We should also take into account the fact that the price increase merely reflects extra costs (for CPS + ano + bead), hence the budget of this LE project might be rather limited itself 🙃

All things considered I expect Elmax or Cromax for the last knife. Needless to say, I'd love to find myself wrong about it!..

Yep, it's a lottery, Molten Overkill:

We are happy to announce yet another collaboration with RJ Martin. Please welcome - Molten Overkill. It's a framelock with 100mm (3.94in) long and 3.5mm (0.15in) thick blade made out of MagnaCut that runs on SRRBS Single-Row Roller Bearing System. Handle is made out of titanium with Lava&Ash CarboTi inlays

These will be available through a lottery held by R1. Signups for the lottery will open up on R1 website tomorrow, the 5th of August, with drawing held on Monday, the 7th of August

These inlays look weird, I'd really prefer a nudist flipper. Not sure yet if I want to participate.

A couple of comments to address the last couple of post topics:

I don’t know why people are hating on the M390 for the Ignis, I mean I don’t have many knives in that steel but I actually find it to be a pretty damn good steel on my Shiro’s! I really hope they don’t go to the Cromax for the last one, it still hasn’t been established what that steel is exactly (at least I haven’t seen it yet) and it seems it’s used a lot on the “lower budget” offerings like the Quantum’s.

With the new Shiro/RJM, I honestly really like it! Once again, as with the Elemental series, I think these inlays will look way better in person than they do in the pics, it will be great to see R1’s video. The outline of the inlay is a little strange in how it’s placed on the scales, especially the lock side with that cutout, but different is cool with these knives and I know the magnacut alone will bring the masses to join the lotto!

*is there a way to get the Shirogorov website to switch to English? I’d love to be able to read all the information and comments!

1. IMHO M390 is perfectly fine, well balanced for most EDC tasks, especially considering pretty good in-house heat-treatment procedures.

But Ignis is the 3rd one, and after not so common Vanax and S90V some people (including myself) were hoping to see even more exotic alloys on the rest of the set. It's an issue of expectations management 🙃

2. IMHO MagnaCut would be great for Ventus, but I have no information about the price and availability for Russian knife makers and do not expect to see this CPM alloy on production Shiro's this year.

3. The website was dedicated to local audience and has not been updated to incorporate multi-language features, there are some articles in English though (not many), for instance -- Disassembly and maintenance.

AFAIK the modern web-browsers (at least desktop versions of Chrome and Edge) are capable of producing basic Russian-English translation. If my memory serves me right, ChazzyP ChazzyP was advising to give it a try.

Thanks, it came to me by chance 😁 user, reasonable price, so I took it and No regrets.

F forest. , congratulations! You're lucky 🙃 It's a rare combination of the F95 Zero style scales + satinated surface + cool FatCarbon inlays while featuring the very recent spacer and blade style (like F95T Gen 4).

And since it is a user you can easily overcome the temptation to keep it in a safe :)
