The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Folks who own/have owned the Quantum Ursus, how's the pocket clip in terms of going into and out of the pocket?

I've had similar reservations, but after giving Quantium 3M a chance, it proved to be very well designed, no issues with carrying or hanging.

The plain Jane QU is a bit heavier and has no spacer, hence the lanyard position is a bit different (attached to the front scale).

I no longer have the Ursus NL I owned but the pocket clip didn’t seem to be a concern at all, I can’t recall ever having an issue with it hanging up.

Thank you both! That's great to hear.

It hadn't occurred to me that the Quantium 3M (and Quantum 3M, I think?) had the same clip.

After looking at Shiros for a Longggg time, I bought a 1st gen Quantum today.....I really wanted to splurge on one of the CDs, but wanted to be certain I liked the design before that kind of commitment.

Is there that much of a difference between a CD and production Quantum?

Interested to see how it compares to my 2 large Sebs and my Diskin auto

You're very welcome 🙃

Your inquiry inspired me to arrange a quick challenge for Q3M today. I deliberately put on my special pair of jeans which is the least suitable for knife carrying -- slim fit, awkward front pockets with thick seam.

Well, Q3M was harder to hang than F95/Hati, let alone any CRK knife.

The reason I haven't noticed this fact earlier is that Q3M fits so good tip-down deep in the pocket, thanks to its 'narrow butt' profile :) So the clip was not actually an issue for me.

I'm half off-topic here, but I'll claim executive privilege as the OP and post a couple pics including the Cheburkov Snach I just acquired alongside my Shirogorov Tabargan. Yeah, I know--a couple Old School knives, but y'all know where I'm comin' from. I have a soft spot for early Gen Shiro's and Cheb's with sliding bar locks.

I stupidly sold off my beautiful, higher-end, anodized M390 100NS with custom CF scales years ago, though the proceeds did immediately go into acquiring my 3.5mm F95R, and I did pick up this more basic version later, which I do like a lot. I've also passed, in the past, on an early Gen, non-Kickstop 110 and, on the Cheb side, a beautiful sliding bar lock Leader with wood onlays, so when I had a chance to pair this Snach, at a great price, with my Tabargan, well, I wasn't gonna let it go by.

This has possibly been discussed… Other than outlining a lock stop(LBS) designation for production, what does the arrow to line symbol mean on the lock bar?
In case you remove tab-lock for thorough cleaning underneath, you are supposed to insert the stop pin into that milled area (temporarily) and align it to the arrow while mounting the tab-lock back.

This feature is supposed to guarantee the exact same position of the tab-lock upon reassembly of the knife.

Same goes for Astrum.

So my quantum deal fell through so still looking for my first Shiro.....and unfortunately have gotten sucked into looking at Custom Divisions lol.

My question for ya'll is do you carry a custom division or do you get a production knife and the CDs are just pulled out to look at?

I don't own a gun I don't shoot and don't own a knife I don't use so if I make the leap to a CD it would definitely be to carry and use it.

Just curious if build wise I should just get a standard production and leave the CDs to the knife art people?

Not true CD's but I carry my 110KS, Doctor Death and Sigma all the time. I use but not abuse them. My neon does all the dirty work and is in my pocket most days. I would love to get a custom and would carry it whenever possible.
Well I guess I will have to learn to carry this one...because it is amazing. A lot of Shiro's don't appeal to me, but this one certainly did and I'd rather have one quality knife I love than multiples I mostly like. course I find a 111 starship for sell or a blue Quantum who knows....
Pic below has it with my Randal, Diskin Auto, 2 Seb 31s, and the CDX.
