The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

It's time to clean some braces. 🙃

I still wonder, why they preferred "braces" over "paper clips". The latter seems to be the proper match for the Russian term "Скрепки".

Your washers and mating surface with the tang are pretty good still, just looks like a good amount of pocket lint! I run a straw cleaning brush through the frame of mine every few days and it knocks all that out with ease limiting how often I feel I need to take them apart, an old toothbrush works good getting the crevices around the pivot as well. Mix those with some good old forced lung air and it’s back in the pocket!

Finally put em all together for a family photo. Should have wiped the blades down. lol

Just added the F3 and the G10 111. Nothing new I know but I find them both excellent. Don't own or buy G10 clad blades but somehow Shiro makes it feel premium. :)

Must have more...

A brief (and mute) video of Stellar CF FP disassembly has been published by a local collector on RuTube streaming platform (not sure if it is accessible from US).

Apparently, the liner-lock (or tab-lock?) is very similar to the one designed for the titanium version, just extended a bit to hold both the rear and the clips screws.

This design makes me wonder about possible issues: the blade play, centering, etc.

The CF pattern looks nice though -- reminds me of a snake skin.

Shirogorov’s latest IG post reports that the CF Stellar will be available at R1 this Saturday, December 6. I’m curious how many pieces will be available in this first production run, and what sets it apart from subsequent runs — will they switch to M390 on those too like the Ti Stellar?

Also, why isn’t this being called a “Stellaris”? Is there a feature that’s missing or something else compared to actual CD Stellaris models (aside from the fancier material choices)?

Some changes you can expect to see in subsequent runs is the blade steel change, most likely to M390 because it will still be premium offering like the original Ti versions are and you’ll find the anodizing on the small parts will be gone. Other than that they probably won’t change much else.

For the name, I just know that they shortened it to Stellar for the production runs, I’ve not seen the Stellaris in person but looking at pics the milling designs are different, the backspacers are longer and tapered, maybe they get a different bearing setup than the basic MRBS?

I like they went to a full CF scale set on the Stellar and hope they offer some cool choices in the future, they have a ton of good inlay offerings already that would make a full knife really stand out.

I have no doubt that the "snake" pattern CF with (hardly visible) purple sparks is reserved for the FP only. We may expect Black TechnoCarbo scales + M390 as a "standard" config for production Stellar CF.

As far as I know 15 pcs were sold a week ago during Arsenal Show in Moscow. The actual FP batch size has never been revealed, but 100-150 pcs seems a reasonable expectation.

I missed my chance to grab one yesterday, really hope for another drop in a week or two.

The CF Stellar dropped shortly before 11 AM Pacific time yesterday and sold out in a couple of hours (not sure exactly how long they lasted, they were OOS by 3 h post-release). Price was $1250, $100 less than the FP Astrum (also MagnaCut). I’m excited to see mine when I finally get to open it Christmas morning — hopefully I can last that long!

More CF Stellars are currently available at R1!

You may expect the 3rd drop today — I finally managed to order CF FP half an hour ago from the manufacturer's website.

It seems they switched to multiple smaller drops without prior notice to support the hype 🙃

The email from R1 on Wednesday stated that they had received and listed their final batch of them, some of which are still available, so I don’t think another drop of them is happening here in the US. Glad you managed to get one Bacchus!

I asked Sergey about the name at the last blade show in Moscow. He explained that Stellaris has a different blade shape, setting it apart from the Stellar model.
