The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

...and because I mentioned my F95R, and because there's no such thing as too many Shiro pics, and because I wouldn't want my friend CPP CPP to have the only pics on this page, no matter how excellent his knives and pics are...

I'd have to say your pictures always trump mine as yours are taken of a knife in use. And what is this new NL you speak of?

I'm as guilty as anyone here with my recent posts, but we should all take care not to attract the adverse attention of any Mods for sales talk (as in WTB), mentioning unregistered dealers, or "deal spotting".

Thanks for the info fellas.

I'll be posting some more content here soon, should receive my guys around Wednesday-Friday.

Cant wait.

Currently, the best actions I have are from a Liong Mah XV, Reate K2, Hoback Kwaiback, and a Zieba S5. I'm interested to see how the Shiros stack up given their reputation. They'll also be the knives in my carry rotation with the most utilitarian design. I'm hoping they settle right on into whatever niche I've invented in my head for them. Of course plural, gotta have a back up.

Should I remove it? I thought if i refrained from mentioning the site or including a link I'd be ok...

It's probably OK, but you never know who might report what and how it might be interpreted. I just noticed that the screen shots displayed the unregistered dealer's name and inasmuch as there's been a lot of price talk here plus one WTB mention (definitely "sales talk"), I thought I'd issue a caveat to protect our beloved Den.

Received my first Shirogorov today (Silver twill CF HaTi R) and I have to say, after reading so many reviews along with reading every post in this thread it some how still exceeded my expectations. I’m very happy with the ergonomics / fit and finish and the action feels great!
This might be my first Shiro but likely not my last!

Have not posted in here for a while but have been following the posts, thank you all for keeping this thread going with both vigor and zest :)

I had posted a Q about Shirogorov pens a while ago but to the best of my recollection, I don't recall any answers so here it goes again to those of you who may have some familiarity:

I see that the North America dealer is currently offering 2 versions of the Ti pen for just under 3 Bill$ (one version for the larger Shiros: 111/F95/F3'Hati and the other version for the NeOn & HatiOn) but then I see another version of Shiro pens going for high 300s to mid 400s whether on here or other sites including the Big Auction site. Was there a previous version which was more expen$ive? I know that they did not come with any more bits than 2 so I assume that the pricier ones do NOT cover NeOn / HatiOn iterations. Were those presumably older ones priced higher because of perhaps more Ti in the construction? I have asked a few sellers but never heard back! Oh welp! BTW, I am not referring to the newer Shirogorov/Sinkevich collaboration pens!

As for me:

I'll be listing a Sigma and a Gathering GX on the Exchange shortly. These were offered to me from a private collection in a 3 knives deal but I only decided to keep the Shiro based on the F95NL pattern which goes by Gorynych (some sort of mythical Slavic dragon) for myself. I have always been partial to dragons and the milling details on this knife is insane. Will probably post photos at some point later on, maybe next week :)

As usual, Stumpy, the good news and the bad news is the same news. The good part is that you have money to spend and several outstanding knives to consider. The bad is that they're all good choices.

I absolutely love my 111--particularly after tuning up the action (thanks to @anvil_den for his vid and advice) and doing a bit of a reprofile to the blade. It's an absolute cutting machine and thumb guillotine with its wicked free, drop-shutty action. It still has just the right detent to flip out easily with a nice snap. I'm sure the Elmax/G10 version is a fine knife and is a great value, but I think the extra money for CF version is worth it. I have Shiros in 3 steels--S30V, M390, and Vanax37--and all are great, so I'd have to assume their Elmax is excellent too, but I really like their M390. Wondering if there are any serial production 111s in Vanax37

I have 2 Cheburkovs--a bronze ano'd "Pyramid" Scout M390 and a small CF Swift (Strisch or Strizh) in Vanadis8. Both excellent knives with great build quality and great values at price points significantly below Shiro levels. I've just order a customized Raven from Alexandr--stonewashed M390 blade and Ti slabs with a red C-Tek scale that will take a while to produce. Even though this is the Bears' Den, I have no problem recommending Workshop Cheburkova. PM me if you need a source with good selection.

Of course, no post here is complete without pics...

Editor's note: All pics above contain at least one Shiro to maintain Bears' Den integrity. ;)

Wow these pics don't help. I'm also weighing the M390/CF 111 vs ELMAX/G10 111 right now and this doesn't make it easier. I'm always hesitant to use anything CF, it seems so "art knife" to me. But I love M390. In a perfect world the G10 model (also digging the lack of fuller and price difference) would be available in M390 because I'm no fan of Elmax, never understood the hype. A full Ti version would be TITS.
