The Beer Scout Knife

I like your style Duvel...

I do, too....

This thread is what brought me to BladeForums, so thought this would be a good spot for my first post now that I have an account. I'm not normally the type to buy multiple versions of the same knife, but this pattern knocked my socks off. Here's what I have:

Who makes that sheath?

That's three nice knives mumbo! I've got the same Beer Scout and it's nice to see such a used #71 and #72.

Thanks to a very generous forum member who let me buy this Ebony off him, I feel like now I've rounded out my Beer Scout collection nicely! :D

Not quite as impressive as some other collections, I admit, but I've got one in acrylic, one in bone, and now one in wood. Good enough for me. :D

Here are mine. My apologies as these are not my photos; they are all the original owners' photos. They are the actual knives though....I will eventually post some of my own.

I'm looking to get 4-5 beers scout for my grooms-man gift for my wedding in August. If another has any lead on one or more, please let me know snodgrass82@gmail.com. I keep check the old timey knife sale forum but have come up dry so far.

Any help is appreciated, thank you friends ~ Stay Sharp

Based on recent availability on the secondary market (and how fast they go), I'd say 4-5 is a tall order, but hopefully you can find 'em. I discovered the Beer Scout Knife (and GEC) a couple months after they had been produced and were all sold out from the distributors last year, and I was able to get the three I have plus two other Tortoise Shells and one other Chestnut Sawcut Bone as gifts for my uncle, my best friend and my brother. So I guess what I'm saying is it's not impossible, but it was certainly easier (and cheaper!) to get the first few back in September/October than the more recent ones that I've been lucky enough to acquire.

I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say that hopefully GEC will do a second run of Beer Scouts this year, maybe with a different main blade. (My fingers are crossed for a clip point! :D ) Last years run was in early July I think, not that that's any indication of when they would do a run this year (if they do a run), but if they do and it's before August, that might be a better bet for you.

Right on, thanks for the info. I've been collecting for a few years but just got into the slip-joint world. I'm a little bit hooked ...

It's too bad that the caplifter didn't make it as the forum knife on the new equal end pattern. GEC did a few "beer scouts" with spear blades for the rendezvous and I think it would be a good choice for a full run. I'm not sure how well a clip blade would work with an easy opener. The clip would taper right at the easy open notch so it may be better suited for a knife without the notch like the "crown lifter" and "radio knife".

This topic has really many replies. I really hope I get a shot at owning one if/when they make a new batch. I'm really like the looks of the Ebony or Cocobolo, and despite searching for beer scout knives every weekend i'm yet to find one.

gosh, I hope they do another run! my dream would be a beer scout with a spear main and matchstrike pulls! what a gorgeous knife that would be.
