The Beer Scout Knife

It's not a northwoods, just a ksf SFO.

Thank you, makes sense. I could have sworn I read somewhere Northwoods, but that was probably just my mind making a mental connection with Derrick, KSF, and the Northwoods line. I would have gone crazy for a Beer Scout with a Northwoods Arrowhead on it! :)

I looked up a picture of my Scout and decided the orignal bead was too far off. I made a new one to match the Bowtie Shield profile a bit better:

It's supposed to represent a scrunched 3D version of the shield that will be on my Soda Scouts:

I was looking at some (unrelated) pocket knives on google images when I spotted this:

Distant uncle to the beer scout? :D

The Beer Scout main blade has a long pull instead of a nail nick... Otherwise the same.

My collection so far, I have a couple more coming. I can't possibly keep all of them but I am so indecisive when it comes to cover choices that I decided to buy and try. So far I am really liking the cocobolo.

What a great line up. Love the photo!

Just received my smooth ivory bone beer scout and I love it. First GEC knife for me and I forsee many more in my future, already eyeing future runs of #47 Viper and Northwoods Broadway Jack. Previously only bought modern folders and now have a new obsession to feed...silver lining is that they are cheaper than Chris Reeve knives!

Placed my order for the micarta soda scout SFO and will be a gift for my grandpa. Must resist keeping for myself once it arrives.

The ivory bone and ebony Beer Scout's are a great addition to my minimalist GEC #15 collection; so nice in fact, that they will just be a collectible, since I'd much prefer an orange Delrin Beer Scout for a regular user. Great job GEC.

I wasn't sure if I wanted the sawcut bone or the cocobolo, so I ordered both.

I've got one, and two more in the mail, but if I were to get one more (one I didn't get already) it would be the chestnut sawcut -- it just looks right. I hope they make another batch in the future when I have knife money again.

Alright guys, so I ordered my first GEC and recieved it yesterday. I posted about it yesterday. I absolutely love it, but I noticed a pressure crack in the front scale. This is a pic I took yesterday (now zoomed in) right after I recieved it and didn't notice it until today. I wanted an opinion to see if it's a big deal or not. For instance if I want to sale it down the road will it hurt the value?

It doesn't bother me much and its not deep at all. It's just a surface crack.

I thought I saw that yesterday but decided not to say anything. Don't keep it, that will not only affect the pricing - but may cause a problem later.

I would definitely send that one back.
May be perfectly functional and even be said to have "character".
It isn't what I would term "first quality" and I imagine you would pay the same for one without a huge "surface" crack in the handle.
Ever heard of surface rust on cars?
