The Beer Scout Knife

I would definitely send that one back.
May be perfectly functional and even be said to have "character".
It isn't what I would term "first quality" and I imagine you would pay the same for one without a huge "surface" crack in the handle.
Ever heard of surface rust on cars?

I completely agree. I thank everyone for their inpIt.

(I did edit out some questions but deleted them because they are questions I would need to ask the seller)

I thought I saw that yesterday but decided not to say anything. Don't keep it, that will not only affect the pricing - but may cause a problem later.

Yeah, I saw that too yesterday but even though thinking it looked like a crack...naw, I thought it couldn't be or that would be the first question to be asked.
Yep, one got though QC.:(
Well LaughingBones, looks like you have 100% support of what to do.

i spoke with seller and he was real nice about it. Sending it back today. It's a little embarrassing that I was so excited when I got it, I posted pics that showed the crack, but didn't even notice till later. It's really noticeable in sunlight. Inside my house under normal lighting I had to shine a flashlight on it to really see it.
The brown sawcut bone are all sold out too. I can't find one anywhere. That's the one that really appealed to me.

I am very happy with the Chestnut saw cut. The overall color is just perfect in my eyes. I don't get many opportunities to post photos but I captured this one last night.

The saw cut is definitely the best looking of the Beer Scout run. If I didn't have a micarta and ebony on the way, as well as a #77 preorder and a Mudbug preorder.........

Hmm...I'm not so sure about that [emoji3]

Having a cool one with the assistance of my Beer Scout last night after brushing my mountain dog.

Talk about "Hair of the dog".

I just ordered the red saw cut and linen micarta Soda Scout's. Can't wait for them.

Howdy yall:)

My two BS cam in today:D they're both REALLY nice and just perfect F&F! I can't find a single thing wrong with it:):):) I'm just not sure I can keep them:( I know that the responsible thing to do is to just put them up for sale to yall:) but I like them so much that it's a quite a hard decision:(:o

Well enough of the jibber jabber and on to the pics:)

Congrats and sorry to hear Ryan. Both of them look great especially the ebony.

I had three but ended up keeping only the sawcut chestnut.

Good luck with decision.

I don't know whether to congratulate you or feel sympathetic. :o

Maybe sell one and keep the other?

The beauty of those two would make the decision hard for anyone.

Finally getting around to posting mine. I want to take this opportunity to thank Bill Howard and Christine for a great factory visit last week. I try to get to GEC every year and it's always a high point of my summer. This time around, Mr. Howard let me have my pic of the coco beer scouts. I raise my glass to him. After all his years in the knife business, he still has so much passion, excitement, and enthusiasm for what he does. A class act all around. Cheers!

Other two arrived today! Been saving some caps for this shot...

Love all three but the gabon ebony is superb in my book.

In my VERY humble opinion Ebony > Tortoise > Chestnut > Cocobolo > Ivory Bone > Sunbrite. Which is why I ended up with just these three! :D
