The Birth Of A Fighting Khukuri (UPDATE)

Joe the Brown's Eric's

Joe instead of tapered tangs Jason took the weight this way.

The difference between a great knife and a good knife is balance :)
Yes, it is. I was looking at the grind on the flats of the blade and figured that he had removed a fair bit of material. I am of the school of thought that says that even a "chopping" design like that doesn't need as much weight bias out toward the tip as some might think. Where does it balance?

Actually, for a fighting khukuri, balance is more important than forward bias.
For a dedicated chopping khukuri forward bias is necessary combined with proper technique to provide chopping power.

If you make sure to listen to what Jason says, and then watch this one to the end... that easily makes it my favorite video of the group. ;) :D LMAO

"The camera man is a tree."
Love this one! :D

great thread... Thanks for posting this. Nice to see Jason at work.

And, now, I'm feeling a compelling twitch to make a khukuri.

The pumpkin demo really shows how much damage with very little effort a proper fighting Khukuri can inflict.
