The BladeForums 2022 Traditional Knife Thread

Benjamin Franklin said something similar to this, something about a watched pot is slow to boil, that must translate into, watching for a tracking number is slow to show up ;)

I wonder if it is possible to polish the bolsters without removing the serial number? It looks like the numbers are quite a bit deeper than the striations on the bolster finish.

... after a little dab of Renaissance Micro-Crystalline Wax Polish and a lot ... LOT ... of hand rubbing (very relaxing actually)
Almost looks like smooth black bone LOL ... in this room light at night
Bolsters are definitely still brushed satin, but a bit lighter and shinier brushed satin

Our places here are pretty scattered not a group of houses in a neighborhood.

Your mailman is supposed to deliver all first class and priority parcels. If it doesn' t fit in your slot, they are supposed to leave you a key to the larger parcel lockers on the bottom. Your tracking should say left in parcel locker. If the parcel locker does not work or the keys are lost, its your mail carriers responsibility to put in the work order to fix them. If the locker is not fixed yet they are supposed to at the very least leave the parcel at your front entrance but preferably hand deliver to a member of the residence. You should not have to go to the post office to get your non signature required parcels.

Key words are SUPPOSED TO. 😆 🤣 😂. I am assuming you have rural carriers and the same rules apply to them. I just left USPS 3 weeks ago and are pretty up to date with the SOP. Talk to your local postmaster or station manager and they should make the appropriate recommendations to the carrier.

Jeff, I think the numbers are deep enough to be able to polish the bolsters and retain the number, I agree with you I absolutely detest brushed bolsters and will be polishing mine.
I did polish the wood and bolsters on mine and the serial number is more subtle, but it isn’t polishing away any time soon. I went all the way down to 400 grit, then 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000, 8000, then Flitz.
