The BladeForums 2022 Traditional Knife Thread

Sounds reasonable I spose.. Im find it hard to fathom why someone would buy a knife which they know everything about and then go i dont like it and sell it...

The Dugong reference is to do with flippers.
So if the original cost was $115 usd inc postage...which I believe was stated early on..then seeing one for sale on ebuy for $160usd..even before some have not received theirs....is flipping ...the serial number should nail it down to one person and get them banished from any future forum knives....At least thats the way I read it...sorry for the Dugong based confusion.
Cheers.
PS after a short search I can't see one for sale on ebay ...

I added these quotes in no particular order so I could comment on your heavy-handed call for “banishing me” from future forum knives.

Both of us sold ours for $155. I posted mine after at same cost, and made it available only to someone that was a paid member, that missed the drop.

I paid $129.90 for it. I don’t have any refund for shipping received, and I’m not complaining.

Here is my shipping receipt:

That’s $146.60 for price I paid + shipping to the buyer. I sold it for $155. That’s a net of $8.40
which we can use for packaging/printing/toner/gas/time to the post office. So maybe I had enough left over for a double cheeseburger and fries at McDonalds… but selling it was my choice, not yours.

Maybe we can get back to a more positive atmosphere about these knives instead of the vitriol?

I've purchased knives that I spent more time than I'd like to admit watching youtube videos of and researching and I still didn't like it when I got them in hand. It happens! I think banishment from purchasing future forum knives over $8 is a bit harsh especially when it's from well intentioned contributing forum members. That's just my thoughts, I'm a nobody and haven't organized any of this or contributed so my opinion is just that. One thing I agree with however is keeping the spirit of the forum knives on a happy note as best as we can.

Holding grudges against each other over petty and trivial disagreements would be most unfortunate. Life is too short and we should all enjoy our time here together 🤗

Er misunderstanding I think.

I just agreed that I couldnt understand why someone would sell it as its such a nice knife, I never noted your name nor even mentioned it.

I did say someone was selling within the parameters which was you (and I thought was admirable or I wouldnt have mentioned it) though again I wasnt naming anyone.

Peace out.

You weren’t the person I quoted.

I wish we could delete all the posts that have been misunderstood.

My comment wasn’t in reference to any comments you’ve made my friend 😄
I agree. Let’s all just hit the “reset” button and leave out any mention of who sells what and where and just enjoy the knives.
That’d be great. It’s so easy to be misunderstood over text messages. That’s the number one thing I tell my fiancé whenever she finds herself arguing with her sisters, pick up the phone and call each other and stop writing mini novels to each other! 🤣
Oops I misunderstood, the misunderstanding I just saw my name.

I am at the internet bar buying you a beer and setting up the pool table for a friendly game. 😁
Cheers to that!! Have a great time sir. I’m looking out the window currently as it’s begun to lightly rain and I’m hoping it would rain a bit harder, we need it 😃

This year was not sold out immediately (or even entirely) so I don't suppose a few folks reselling at just above their cost plus reshipping is a big deal. Buyer's remorse I suppose. There have been plenty of knives (all of which I still own) that on second consideration I wished I could un-buy, when the humor was off me.

One trick I learned - don't buy things late at night - put them in your cart, sure. But only click 'Buy' in the cold light of a Monday morning when the work week lies ahead and you are fully rested and sober.

Anything that is potentially a limited availability lolly-scramble can make you buy out of FOMO and then later, when you get whatever it was, you might think "well that was silly, I didn't really want this" when it shows up.

I think it was those who were buying with the sole intent of later flipping at a huge profit elsewhere that were the problem with last year's knife. Not a couple of platinum members making 8 bucks off the deal, selling to other gold/platinum members through the exchange here.

I don't really care what anyone else does with their knives, but out of spirit for the effort any BFs I've parted with have been traded (straight up) for another GEC knife (and that includes models that I've seen go for absurd $).

I have been heavy handed and undiplomatic with my words .It is not my intention to judge or jump to hasty conclusions. I apologise sincerely to you all and especially to Greg and King of the Cheese King of the Cheese ...guys seriously its none of my business...you have been big enough to offer explanations and that is enough. No foul No penalty. Its all been said.....I do however feel the need to make amends...stay tuned for that.
Wishing you a happy and safe 2023.

haven't heard a thing Mark and believe me I'm listening punctiliously :p

LOL! I found it in a thesaurus today. Thought I'd give the more sedulous of us something to consider. Hope it wasn't too pedantic of me. Truth is if someone uses it tomorrow I'll likely have to look up it's definition again. :D
BTW anyone know if there is a prize for being the last to receive the 2022 forum knife ;)...cuz I'm in the running. :p

And if it’s a contest, yer on!
But I should warn you, I’m really good at coming in last.🥴😜

Twas the heart of the season
And all round The Porch soon
The Bunnies were hopping
Worth a small for choon …....
(gottta love that one)….
The Posties were slack and kept a few waiting
on The Porch with their breath.... fervently bating.
From the yard came the sound of a siren's songs
In the pond splashed a pair of friendly Dugongs.
Asleep in his kennel at the back of the shed
Meako the Flipperhound raised up his head.
Frippets? He barked in a Scooby Doo voice
Because Flippers are his Chew toy of choice.
All on The Porch were taken aback!
As the slavering whirlwind went on the attack.
The Porchenbergers then... all spoke as one
Get back on your chain! Be off and be gone!
Dugongs are harmless and must not be eaten
Flippers however must be savagely beaten
Back to his kennel to mutter and squirm
But at least he was happy....
he’d coined a new term.

It’s good to know that my pup is not the only one who speaks like Scooby Doo!
