The BladeForums 2022 Traditional Knife Thread

Man I must've missed that part. I will ship it back if needed, because I'm not trying to skirt the rules. I seen it posted in the general knife section and sent my money in. Let me know if you want it back Spark. I honestly didn't know. Anyone here that knows me will tell you I'm a stand up guy.
Don’t sweat it. You were shipped a knife, enjoy it worry-free.

your offer to return shows u r a stand up guy... I'm sure it's fine, enjoy

I went to give my bunny knife a mineral oil flush, and when I was rubbing the long pull with a paper towel I noticed some rust. What should I do to make sure I get rid of all the rust inside this small crevice?

The amount of whining in here is laughable.

I'll send my unused #285 to someone still waiting theirs, with the promise you'll send your unopened knife to me, if it will stop the crybaby posting.

I had a few generous people reach out to me within the first week that the sale of these closed in October, after I complained about missing the sale notification, offering to sell me their's at their cost because they thought I deserved it more. The people on this forum never cease to amaze me at what they will do to help other people out.

It's all good or Spark wouldn't have shipped it to you. Use it in good health and Happy New Year !!! :)
Like I said, Welcome to the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades forum.
What serial number did you get ??

Agreed, Spark was much less tolerant of us who missed buying one by a day than the people who actually paid attention and took the time to order before the week long sale closed.

And don't forget that there are several serial numbered knives that have not been sold yet as well, that will go up for sale after everyone has theirs. They did not completely sell out the 550 to be produced before the sale closed, probably so that late comers would get a second chance to buy later after seeing the knives and reviews.

And, I am considering buying an extra used one and doing a giveaway, and I will try to honor the terms of the original sale if that's what people would want.

From the other store models this dealer has sold, I'm guessing it's due to a relationship between the dealer and GEC, and probably nothing to do with BF.
Well the dealer also mentioned in the same email he is taking all his GEC's to ebay instead of selling through his site because he receives low quantities from every run. Does that mean each knife he receives moving forward from GEC will be auctioned off to the highest bidder on ebay?... I've never actually visited his ebay account so I'm genuinely curious? I do know he priced all his inventory much higher at pretty much secondary market rates on his website in the past, which IMO is unfortunate to see but who am I to judge? It's not easy being a dealer, trying to keep the lights on, bills paid, live a comfortable life and getting low quantities only to see them flipped the next day for nearly double, Idk. At the end of the day I don't think we can fault anybody for anything and I'm just grateful for another opportunity at a Bladeforums knife at a great deal. abbydaddy abbydaddy said it best!

Also a major thank you to Spark Spark , I just saw my email from 4:14am that my Bunny Knife has been shipped. The man is shipping out knives instead of enjoying the holidays like the rest of us. You are incredible sir and I'm very grateful. Happy New Year to you and your family, as well to Charlie, Bill, and the employees at GEC who made these knives and all the moderators and admins for running a tight ship and allowing this space on the internet be one that we've come to enjoy year after year. Hats off to all the members of Bladeforums as well, if it wasn't for the members there also wouldn't be a community like this to enjoy. Happy New Year to everyone!!

Flushing it with oil like you did will probably do the trick.

A bit of scrubbing with a wooden toothpick and mineral oil should do the trick.

Upon closer inspection, there appear to be several spots of rust. Do you still think oil and a toothpick is enough, or would something like a gun cleaner/lube (eezox comes to mind) be needed?

I believe that’s pretty common on the longpull of the GEC blades, it’s probably pretty hard to get in those grooves when they’re putting the finishing touches on the knives at the factory. I’ve never seen rust leach from the longpull on other areas of the blade. I would use quTip and apply a very small amount of flitz or metal polish ONLY inside of the longpull. Clean with another quTip and reapply mineral oil. Note: You probably won’t want to get that flitz anywhere else on the blade unless you plan to use it and in that case I wouldn’t worry about flitz.
