The BladeForums 2022 Traditional Knife Thread

Hoo boy...Thanks Charlie waynorth waynorth for clearing that up about the store models.. after last year I firmly believe he deserves a break...I was about to launch a tirade about how Team USA s olympic whinging squad have taken the gold from long standing world champion complainers Great Britain.....but I won't.🤠
As a sidenote there have in the past been several trad firum porch knives that havent landed here until mid Jan.....And lookout! Here come the Aussies looking to grab 1st place from the Americans....🤗

NICE !!! ... and didn't even have to meet the buying requirements as mentioned by Spark in the OP ... "25+ posts in this Traditional forum."
Welcome to the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades forum :)

EDIT: What serial number did you get ??
You still want to gate keep the knife from a platinum member with 700 posts on the forum when everyone else is saying it’s fine for one of, if not the, most expensive GEC dealer out there to sell the knives to the general public?

Upon closer inspection, there appear to be several spots of rust. Do you still think oil and a toothpick is enough, or would something like a gun cleaner/lube (eezox comes to mind) be needed?

Hey, Viper84!
If I were in the same position, I would clip the paper shaft of a cotton swab to fit the groove and give it a good rub with some Flitz.

wow... you are WAY more anal attentive to details than I am.... 🤣 o_O🤣

I went to give my bunny knife a mineral oil flush, and when I was rubbing the long pull with a paper towel I noticed some rust. What should I do to make sure I get rid of all the rust inside this small crevice?

If all of the other suggestions do not work use a sheet of fine sandpaper and double it over to get down in the groove and clean the spots off . Then of course oil it well and let some oil lay in the groove for a good amount of time to soak it in .

I think I'd try dipping the point of a toothpick in Flitz. It should only take a tiny amount to run along the slot. Then give it a good wash with hot, soapy water. Dry with compressed air and then oil with food-safe mineral oil. Then use it to slice a few limes and drink a couple gin & tonics. ;)👍🍸🍸

Waiting can really try a persons patience and drive them to do or say something they might regret, but most finally realize that they overreacted and that is good enough

Kinda like when Captain Ron threw the anchor off before making sure it was securely tied down
One of my favorite scenes from that movie

Happy New Year folks!

Thank you for that G2. A movie I loved growing up, but haven’t thought about in years. I’ll be watching Kurt Russell at his finest tomorrow. Happy New Year!
