The Case Barlow is BACK

Okay, I've taken a real good look under magnification - it is a "deep etch", down in the bottom it is black and rough. Not apparent to the naked eye. OH

I would like to add a little tid bit about Case' knives, (Case branded), being made in Bradford PA. If we are talking about their traditional slipjoints, then maybe so. But, if we are including their traditional fixed blade knives, then at least one of the Case knives is made in NY State. The one I speak of is the Case Marine Corps knife, (aka: the KaBar style knife). Case has them made by the Ontario Knife Company of NY.
Also, as far as I know, Ontario may have been the last company to make the "KaBar" style Marine Corps knives for the Marines under Government contract. I believe the US Marine Corps now uses the Ontario made Marine Corps bayonet that was designed to specifically fill the dual purpose role of utility knife & bayonet.

Volta, that is a gorgeous blue Barlow - one is going on my “target” list! OH

I agree. The stock photo I've seen of the "Caribbean Blue" has a much lighter shade. I really prefer the deep blue on yours. I wonder how most of them are turning out?

Great to see Case making these again, I looking forward to getting one and putting it to good use!

I'm waiting to see if any other options come out later. I'm okay with the shield, not my preferred but it's okay. But I would like to at least have a lined bolster, if not a full stamped logo.

While I personally prefer as plain as possible in the Barlow pattern, I hope they do well enough to eventually offer variations to suit us all. I am most leaning toward the yellow delrin CV or the single blade in antique bone (which I have heard has lined bolsters).

What’s your opinion on the fit and finish? Transitions between cover and bolster, flush spring at close, blade centering, etc. I have one coming. Thanks.

It would also be interesting to read about how they hold up in use. They look to be well suited as working knives.

It's what you would expect on a case. Not perfect but close. Only thing on mine is a very tiny slight left to right blade play. Centering is on point, transitions are great, flush spring. Also another small thing is the actual saw cut itself....it's not that nice looking . And the scale color don't match up too. I put it up against my benchmade bugout for reference.

If anyone has both the spear version and the clip, I'd appreciate a top down pic showing the blade thickness of each. I have an older model clip, and have always been impressed with the thin slicing profile.

Thanks,

Andrew

In Case’s own Barlow release email they didn’t show that clip point single blade with the blue covers. Was that just a special limited run or something? The only single blades in any cover material were spear points. :(

Caribbean Blue Sawcut.. Regular release..:D Some are darker I would guess than the pics CASE posted..;)

I REALLY want to like these. I REALLY want to have a USA made Case barlow. I just can't get on board with the setups they have on these; unusual / unappealing colors and jigging, terrible etches on the blades and bolsters, and worst of all shields (not to mention that they're not pinned).

Picked up one so far and I'm liking it although I wish they would ditch the shield,I will be picking a couple more to carry.

I'm sure that's a nice knife. But with the shield and etch on the blade, I think that I'd rather have a Rough Ryder in smooth natural bone... unfortunately. For a quarter the price.
