The Case Barlow is BACK

Guys, this is Winterbottom bone jigging.

I don't think I've ever seen sawcut which ran with the frame before now, it's always across the frame. You've got a rare one!

I've only seen pics of one sample of winterbottom, and it didn't look like this. I had never even heard of it before your post... what is it about my knife that makes you say it's winterbottom? Just curious.
I only meant that it reminded me of winterbottom jigging, not that is supposed be so. I think you just got a piece of sawcut that was jigged the wrong direction, which makes for an interesting look nonetheless.

Mine arrived today... a two month wait. All in all, it was well worth it. Case did a really nice job on mine. CV steel, brown sawcut...
I had never noticed, just always assumed the saw cuts would match. Mine don't. One side goes long ways, the other side goes sideways. Character....
Not the greatest photos, but you get the idea...

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Very unique, I like it... I would feel lucky if that arrived in my mailbox

I had just never heard of winterbottom. After seeing the pics of others, I kind of like it. It's different. I suppose I might have seen knives like that, but never knew it was a "style" of jigging. Cool stuff. I'm not all that well versed in all of this "knife stuff"... it's a learning experience, and you guys are great at 'splainin things...

Thanks.... that Queen is amazing! I really like that look. Does anyone still regularly use the winterbottom bone on their knives?

Another well made Barlow from the recent run. Nice walk & talk, typical medium-light pull (which I have absolutely no problem with), smooth transitions at handle/bolster junctions, and nice color with seemingly deep dye job. And the blades are CV!

If I had to find something to complain about, maybe the person doing the hafting job could've eased up a bit at the butt end and not radiused the handles so much...I usually prefer 'em kinda squared. But - not really a quality issue here as much as an individual method of crafting.

Does the saw cut go the same direction and same pattern on both sides ? Interesting one posted on previous page here.
