I was on a site today that has some models saying "shipping this week".Just ordered one of the single Spear blade barlow's w/ blue bone & Rogers style jigging. Guess it'll be after SHOT before they ship. OH
Annnnd, just got a call from the vendor saying they oversold ...Case is closed till the new year, and the owner said they would try and get one for me...oh well, que Serra Serra.Just ordered a Pilot Test Run model, going to give them white bone covers a good Black tea treatment when it arrives, I guess I can live with the tiny shield. and them True sharp SS blades won't turn to rust in my pocket...;-}
Earlier today I reserved one of these at CK . I know the bolster is a little hokey ( or maybe a lot hokey ) . I hope it is stamped on instead of etched . This is in addition to the Smooth Antique Bone one that I ordered from some place in Mo. // I missed out on the 250 Smooth Bones that they announced on Christmas Day .Just ordered one of the single Spear blade barlow's w/ blue bone & Rogers style jigging. Good post, Randy. I, too, like Case products. As Tony Bose has said, "They're a good value." I like the look of the blue bone with the spear, but I do agree with those that prefer no shield.Just placed a few on early reserve and was happy to be able to. I'm so glad they are bringing the pattern back and have no problem with any of them. There have been a lot of folks on this thread that have expressed disdain for everything from covers to shields to blade shape which is perfectly fine as everyone is entitled to their opinion and no better place to discuss likes or dislikes in a knife than BF.
So here are my opinions on these new barlows.
1st I like Case products in general even though you can occasionally get one with problems IMO the vast majority are just fine.
Never been a big fan of shields on barlows but certainly not a deal breaker.
I love smooth bone but jigging is perfectly acceptable and did not stop the early reserve.
Never been a fan of fancy plastic covers so I passed on the Patriot.
I wish there was an option for a single sheepsfoot or sheepsfoot main oh well.
SS and CV really doesn't matter to me because my experience is they both preform about the same. I'm not a fan of patina so CV does require a bit more attention in the maintenance department for me.
Now here is a biggie for me USA made, good quality pocketknife that will last for decades with a price tag of around $50. Let's face facts as we turn the corner to 2019 that keeps it what it was always intended to be. An affordable working mans knife that can get the job done.![]()
.....On the other hand, I think that the etch on the blue bone looks hideous. Aside from it looking like it was a stolen Chevy design, and then modified, the etch makes it look cheap and like a souvenir knife....
Just so you will know what I’m actually saying, is that I’m not saying Chevy pickups or the Chevy plates are ugly. Chevy pickups are great(and beautiful) and so is the plate. They’re an iconic piece of Americana. What I am saying is that Cases’ execution, for my taste is not so great.Oh the humanity, besides my taste in Barlow's next I'll learn that I love ugly women, ugly guns, and ugly pickup trucks! OH
I am starting to wonder where these Barlows are being made . The Pin Placements are strikingly similar to the ones pictured for Frost Cutlery Barlows and unlike the Case Barlows that I have seen and I have not seen any " Made In U.S.A. " stamping on the tangs in the pretty poor pictures . I will be very disappointed if the 2 that I have coming are made outside of the U.S.A. and not in fact made by CASE .
I would hope that a dealer would jump in here and confirm or deny this .
