D! I had a setback tonight! I broke both of my #53's doing detents and may have completely pulverized a detent ball into the TI. It's amazing what a little too much muscle will do
That tanto was seriously killer! It went about as fast as I expected heh.
Just keep with it! I wear out a bit for most detents so you are still doing good! I switched to carbide and if you have a rigid setup they are the way to go.
The .O62" detents will literally lock a blade shut so yes they look small but will do quite a lot. Just be sure to close the blade a bit past where it stops when you drill the detent. They are truly an art and a science...
Can I just say how glad I am that someone else bought that tanto folder. I was *this close* but I'm buying a house, and would like to keep my wife in the process. :/
Bobby I am going to be as busy as it gets... I always am but things are going really well. I'm likely going to move to mostly folders as I really enjoy making them and have a load of designs I want to to release.
I have the new flipper coming out really soon, it looks a bit like the RF2 but even better! They are about to be the plan along with some TJT's.
These new prybars are really nice and my best price since the first batch. Get one and save your knife tip!
Bobby do you have a link or brand on that slitting saw... your framelocks are looking good!!!
I'm worn out today, that was one heck of a week. We had some fun yesterday and went to a local vineyard for open house. There was good wine and the kids loved the farm animals! It's back on today in the shop! I've got the forge area set up and am working on some sort of roof as it is raining daily. I'm excited to forge some more stuff and water quench lots of DHIII's W2!
D, it was a Martindale Electric M2 HSS 1-3/4" OD , 1/2" ID .032" thick 132 TPI jewelers slotting saw. I got mine off Amazon.
I had a much easier time with .032" cutting discs. If you want to give the slotting saw a shot, I can mail you the appropriate R8 arbor. I have no more need for it.
Yup. I wanted to see how they performed. They come in almost the same size and there's a pack that includes a drill chuck. These cut faster then the slotting saw. Each disc was good for 2 ish framelocks.
Let me know. Either I send the r8 arbor to you for testing or offload it as I don't see a reason to go back!
