  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

The coin thread--post pictures of your traditional knives with a coin

Thanks for reviving the thread, Will.

I received this 2 francs coin and the other pictured goodies from my friend, Jolipapa in France.

James, those are very appealing pen knives! What model(s) are they? That top one with the spear main and ebony(?) covers really gets my motor running and heading out on the highway!! :D

Jared Oeser Gibeon Meteorite Lanny's Clip & coin struck on Persian gold during Alexander the Great's campaigns.

Kunga Galunga!! David, talk about Long Ago (the gold coin) and Far Away (the meteorite shield)!!! Breathtaking photo of remarkable subjects!:thumbup:

Do a wooden whittled coin, courtesy of WhittlinAway (thanks, Greg) and a little RR stockman with scrimshaw courtesy of r8shell (thanks, Rachel) count?

Thanks GT, those are both 68s and the top one has buffalo horn handles. Being called "White Owls" they remind me of my grandfather. He carried a spear point pen knife and smoked one White Owl cigar a day... everyday.
He had an old saying I just made up that says "One who is able to carve his own coins will always have that going for him." ;) :)

David Your coins from Antiquity are astonishing! Knives aren't so poor either....:D

Thanks, Will

Nice thread.... like the knives and coin mix... here is an old George Woodhead Bowie with a few quid tossed around in the foreground - took this photo long ago but think the photo fits here :)

Magnificent composition Macchina  Wonderful blue slate colour, gives those Dollars a real bloom.:)

Regards, Will

Thanks for the ID, James. I actually guessed right in the privacy of my own mind. A couple of White Owls share a birthday with me, and I do like the spear point pen knives (like your grandfather), so maybe I'll try to track down one of those some day. I enjoyed your grandpa's wise saying, whoever actually said it! ;)

Here's another knife and coin photo. I try to remember to run a penny through those souvenir "crushers" whenever I get the chance. The Big Daddy Barlow is courtesy of New Daddy Shawn last summer!;)
