The Cold Steel AD10 is the best knife money can buy.

That was my thought. Haha. If money is no object then I could go to any custom maker out there and have them craft me a blade from the ground up using every detail I list, including handle material and blade steel. No way a Taiwan produced Cold Steel is the best knife hands down, cost aside.
I admire your candor, Murdamook. It is precisely the kind of stimulating cutlery debate I'd hoped to find here on Blade Forums.

To be fair, if I were ordering a custom hard use folder with unlimited funds, it WOULD have a Tri-Ad lock. Kind of a silly thread, but I think everyone knows that.

its a pretty good knife, but i sold mine and i like my wharncliffe endura and spyderco police way more

also i like pre-demko cold steel so much more, while the triad lock is nice i just like the older cold steel models like the older voyagers/vaquero, the scimitar, ultra-lock ak47 and recon, triple action etc..........

Nice. I prefer my regular endura to the wharncliffe. I don't care much for the spyderco police, but it's a good knife.

So here I have an issue with this post. Not because the knife is a Cold Steel and not even because the word "best" is used. The issue is that you are saying A) knife (in this case, the AD-10) is THE BEST knife but only give 1 specific knife reference based on that, the Paramilitary 2. Is the Para2 a great knife? Yes. Do I personally own one? No, as the blade shape throws me off and is too bland. I really don't like the straight top spine and I really wanted to love the knife. So now the only reference I have is to a knife I don't really care for.🤣

I recently wrote my own review/praise letter of the Benchmade Bailout. The difference between yours and mine is I compare it to a very well, deserved, well loved knife the Sebenza but I never said either knife is "the Best" knife. The "Best" implies beats all others. In this day and time where there are so many good knives to choose from to say the best is almost a blasphemy of sorts.

The other issue I have is you gave no real reasons why. Why is it the best? Does it have a superior locking mechanism? Does it hug your hand? Is it super strong? If so why? Is it light weight? Carry nice? etc. etc. What makes the knife "the best". By contrast, in my opinion/review I provide explicit details as to why the Bailout deserves such high marks. If you really feel the AD-10 so strongly, I urge you to do the same and outline exactly why you feel the knife excels above all others.

The audience. Lastly, you have to realize there are members on this forum who've been here 13+ years and have vast experiences with good knives. Tastes vary. What one loves, another may not love and what one hates, another may not. Thus all the more reason to a A) use caution with the word "best" and B) once again really define "the why".

I applaud your enthusiasm and the AD10 is one knife that I haven't tried but have heard good things. It has been on my list of "would like to try" knives list. Yet, your post did nothing to convince me or sway me in any way shape, or form.

Cheers

I carry a *poor mans AD10* on a regular basis. The Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter. Great knife and ergos for me. The CS UH has slightly thinner stock (.13 vs .15), almost 2 oz lighter, and a slightly fatter handle which is nice for my big paws.

For those looking at the AD10, take a look at the Ultimate Hunter and save $80 or so. Yes, the Recon and Voyagers are also great knives.

I won't get into the "best" argument but CS does make a good knife for the money imo.

The Voyager is the best knife for 50 bucks, but if money is not an object, then the AD10 is the best. Just my opinion, but it's a knife forum...
If you’d taken the time to throw those all-important words (“my opinion”) into your first post you wouldn’t have generated so much friction FYI, but perhaps that’s what you were going for.
What do you like that you think is better than the Cold Steel AD10? I mean, I understand people that don't want to edc the knife. I totally get that, but aside from that, the knife is fantastic in every single way. If I'm EDCing a knife, it's probably not the AD10. I've got a very nice Para 3, Benchmade Bugout, Spyderco Sage lightweight, etc. But, the AD10 is my go to knife for the outdoors.
Fixed blades are bestest for the outdoors.
Man ferider you beat me to it!

Lasador, I can only assume you also use fixed blades outdoors, but I don’t like to assume, so instead I’ll just suggest that you try one out if you haven’t. :)

Had one, it was quite sharp, but as I tend to forget, the spear point aspect of it didn't suit me so off she went, but, I'm leaning towards getting one of the drop point Voyagers, the XL seems cool but most likely not very practical for my use, but cool none the less. The Large might work out ok, I'll get back to you guys/gals on that ;)

I like the shovel, the Bushman and the trail hawk, I am even considering the torpedo, but for some reason I don't trust anything with moving parts from them?

It took me a lot longer to get around to buying a Cold Steel knife than other big American knife brands, because of the over the top antics made it hard to take the brand seriously. I mean who doesn't need a boar spear to keep the Communists off of your patio during the Cold War? I finally bought some, once I was able to look past the Look at me living my best lunatic knife life, but it took a while.

:)Maybe a tad of hyperbole here , much as I love my AD-10 .;)

I paid $105 for LNIB for mine and it was flawless right out of the box . Hard to beat the quality and performance at even twice what I paid , IMO .

The Tri-ad lock was so drop shut smooth that I thought something was broken , at first .

Never had a Tri-ad lock nearly so slick , and I've got most of them .

But this kind of large , heavy , hard use folder is not everyone's favorite type of carry ...so NOT the "best" for them .

Not everyone even can tolerate the Tri-ad lock or Cold Steel in general .

I don't believe there is any such a thing as "best" , even just for me alone . I like variety .:thumbsup::thumbsup:
This was my experience with the AD10.
Unmatched fit and finish for the price.
Action is smooth and drop shut. Favorite knife to fidget with.
The hollow ground blade was a smart move. Very slicey for a big blade. Don’t know about the flat grind version.
The handle length is a little short for my hands. For that reason it’s a no go for me.
I want to sell it but it’s so nice.
As far as best ever, that’s a big statement.
