The Dork Ops guys have their own forum!

I just sent THEM an email. I'm SURE they'll get right back to me with all the necessary information.

Well, I thought long and hard about whether I should make this post, but I figured "what the hell!" - flame me if you want.

I don't understand why you are going to their forum to essentially disrupt it. Sure, their advertising is rediculous and their hardware is vaporware (so far). But, these people have done nothing to anybody to deserve this. I've laughed along with everybody else while reading posts poking fun at their ads and hardware because that was funny and was within the Bladeforums "family", but now I think we're crossing the line. I think we should have more class. Those guys are just trying (ineptly) to get a company up and running. Give them a chance. The marketplace will weed them out if their product sucks, and ER will go after them if they have violated any patents.

I hope I haven't pissed off anybody, but I wanted to say my piece. Lets play nice ! :)

Thanks for listening.

Well said. I agree with almost every derogatory comment posted about Dark Ops and yet I think that responding to the forum in such a manner is juvenile and in poor taste. I would not like to see these knives become successful, but it is a bit embarassing to see forum members that I have come to respect the opinions of behave like this.

Anybody ever heard of the high road? *sigh*

If it just keeps one single prospective Dork Ops buyer from purchasing their knock-offs, the "trolling" we did over there was worth it. And even if nobody besides us (and LONE WOLF  ) gets to read it, at least we had the chance to tell the people behind this strange company what we think about their marketing and business manners.

I feel happy for lone wolf and his alter ego luridurbanwanker. At last he has found a forum where he is the good guy and everyone else is a troll.

Esav, I think you have cookies disabled. Is your system set up so you have to put a website in your trusted zone before your system will accept cookies from it? (Your cookies are obviously working for Bladeforums....)

I usually don't jump in on Dork Ops bashes, but I can't resisit. I've said it a thousand times; I served honorably in the Marine Corps as a grunt and an 8152 post stander, and I see absolutely NO validity to any of the statements made by Dork Ops. I see nothing but an advertising scam to try and con a bunch of Mall Ninjas into buying an overpriced, copied, and completely useless POS. I have never once had the urge or need to "control bloodspray" or "covertly deanimate" anyone, and everyone who says they're giving us a bad name is COMPLETELY and ENTIRELY correct. These people are fueling the ever growing fire that one day may consume our rights as American citizens and human beings by giving some liberal the ammunition they need to bring to us the unwanted attention we try so intelligently, and sometimes not so intelligently, to be rid of. These corporate fools are drawing on all of our foreheads a stereotype that could lead to serious reprocusions if something isn't done immediately. I think it is our duty as citizens of America and elsewhere to bring to their attention the grave they are digging for us and for themselves as entrepeneurs. In fact, as of now I suggest a petition for cessation of these unwanted, ridiculous marketing ploys. If there are any legal beagles in the forums please respond to the thread following this post. I could go on for days but I'll sum up in a few words... immature, uncalled for, and without a doub the most ridiculous load of marketing scams I've ever heard. They deserve to be tortured with bad PR and worse; they deserve to be put out of business.

raghorn, I gave them the chance, but of course that silly email address comes back "unable to deliver". One more Dork Ops failure.

Cougar Allen, I do not have to make any such arrangements for any other website. I have registered with others recently.

Tim, email on the way. Stealth, stealth will win out in the end. The sneaky will conquer!

Someone named Gollnick showed up and posted something about looking for hot boys who liked body fluids.

I really hope that's not the real Gollnick.

EDIT: N/M, it's just our old friend LW. I must be getting slow.

I'm thinking I want an all titanium folding knife that locks up stronger than a fixed blade, will float on water, but not blow away in the wind, will use exclusive compounding leverage technology to outperform a 36" crowbar, has double the edge holding of ZDP-189, will change color to match my mood, will shave hair like a Gillette, split wood like a maul, and utilize a yet to be determined blade morphing technology that will allow me to determine blade length and shape.....

You're saying to contact Dork Ops and they can fill my requests?

I'm too scared even to register!

Those Dark Ops ads are so frightening, I'd be terrified that a spectral skeleton hand would emerge from my monitor and thrust an adamantium blade into my medulla oblongata.

You can't be too careful.

LOL!

THEY'VE GOT YOUR
BLADE!!!!:D

Hi,

Just to give my "10 cents" worth. ;)

I have been interested in knives / swords etc. since I was a kid.
I bought loads of cheapie POS blades, as I grew up, because thats all you could get in the local shop (and all I could afford then).

Over time, through reading magazines and later as an adult on the internet (credit to Bladeforums here!), I realised that some companies made better knives than others and the difference in getting a knife made of decent materials, compared to something cheap, was huge!

I learned that knife designs like any other media are a trademark of the designer and are copyrighted material (thats how they make their living!) and so was more careful what I bought. I bought good quality. I bought ethically. And added a lot to my enjoyment of knives.

Most of the people out there dont know that a knife may be a ripoff, they probably dont know such a thing exists! Most people dont realise how much a difference there is between a good knife and a POS.

By having forums like this and posting our opinions, which are available to the public, we can help others buy decent kit at a fair price without funding people who are knocking off others hard work and design.

I have also learnt that advertising does effect:

A) How you may be treated in court if you use a knife for self defence
B) How the Government treats knives with reference to future legislation.

I live in the UK.

Because of a few well publicised stabbings and the type of advertising some knife / sword / martial art companies were using back in the 80's. Here we are no longer allowed to carry anything as an EDC except a slipjoint with a blade of less than 3". We can only carry any other knife (or bladed item) if we have a legally provable, justifiable cause for doing so.

Handguns are also illegal in the UK for similar reasons......
So are many other items you guys take for granted in the US (Tasers, Pepper spray etc..)

Beware! this kind of thing could happen to you in the future if the knife community isn't careful!

My point is this..... Dork Ops gives the media fuel for "proving that anyone wanting to own a knife is a blood crazed Psycho" this outrages the moral majority (Sheeple). The Government wants votes. It's real easy to ban an item rather than attack the true roots of crime. "Combat" knives get banned. And thats just the beginning (after all, they argue, what right minded peace loving citizen would need or want to own such an item?) and who suffers ? We do. The knife nuts. It happened here in the UK!

By attacking Dork Ops or any company that may have questionable ethics. We help people to chose decent products. At a decent price. That is advertised responsibly. That respects copyright.
We also show that even in the knife community we don't necessarily want people to talk about "covert deanimation" and "blood spray"

I am in the military and am a martial artist. I and anyone else with an imagination can realise what happens if a knife is used as a weapon. You don't need to spell it out for the media to use as bad PR. Some of the best military knife companies like Strider don't talk about this BS because anyone who really professionally has to use a knife this way knows the reality and doesn't need it spelled out. Its only going to impress the wannabe mall Ninja.

So if going over to their site and having a bit of fun makes them change their sites ad copy or prevents one person buying what may be a poor quality knife and may well be a ripoff

Then go for it!!

Rip em up!!

Its your duty as a well meaning Knife nut! ;)

Amen, Kiri. You preach it, brother.

That was a most excellent post. Thank you.

My impression from when I talked to Frank on the phone was, he doesn't care what the ads say or what the cost to society is as long as it makes him money.

Also, he does read these threads (why I read them is still a mystery).

Man....not a good impression to be making...that's for sure :(

When I had talked to him....which was a few months ago, he seemed upbeat about the product & it sounded like he would have the knives available soon.
So far nothing :grumpy:
I know it probably had been said, but he used to work with the copied knife company & had a falling out & he used their desings & "made them better".
Still, he should have been a little more creative about the ad campaign & the overall design of "his" knives.
I personally like the looks of the Covert StratoFighter & would like to try one out.....but who knows when or if the knives will even be out. With all the bad words about them & their inability to get back to anyone about release dates or anything.....they are only hurting themselves.
Maybe this is a spin-off company of MercWorx :D

Only time will tell............
