Aaahhh, those were the days! I still have quite a few, but let so many go that I wish I still had. Limited funds is no way to build a collection.

You win what a collection, I had no idea there where so many 440c models.

A generous gift from waynorth , one of many I've received over the years, and my first 48. Also, notably it was my first delete attempt on a gec. Safe to say, it did not go as planned and glennbad got a tube full of parts a few weeks later.

Back in the day they did runs of 440C a lot more often, and always in the elk stag. I also have my #53 Cuban collection, complete.

I remember the first GEC I got and on opening the packet in a café I was stupefied by how good this 73 was, could not believe the quality and feel...the 73 is the cornerstone of GEC's greatness in my view.

I think the #73 remains one of GEC's finest Will. If there was one pattern that I wish GEC would continually make and keep in stock, the #73 is it.

Indeed, apparently having unlimited funds lets one purchase a collection.

Dan, if you are referring to my #53s, it took me 15 years to finally put it all together, and I probably sold off many of the other early GECs to fund it.

Jeff I am not. It is quite apparent to me that you built your collection. There’s others who have done so using the secondary market in a short period of time.

My only OG GEC in 440c. I just got it! I love GEC stainless but they are hard to find! One of my grail knives is the 62 stainless. I don’t think I’ll be hunting for used GECs unless they are 440c though. Loving all of the pics!!

The ruby red and the ebony spear are my first gecs...the other was a goldenrod bone 25 w.l.s.t....I swapped with pmew policeman Paul in the Outer Hebrides for a 2017 forum Charlow..which I gave away..Paul had a massive collection of 25s.


The Carved Pumpkin Sunfish is one I dithered over buying for over a year!!....

Had a bunch of 25’s at one time, down to 2 now. The sfo 73 or 23 was the first ebony GEC I got, and the only one of that pattern. I have a kryptonite 53 from 08 as well, and whatever of waynorth HJ sfo’s in ebony. This 25 was made on my wedding day!

/Duncan in NZ... I have others but will have to look through some knife rolls.
