The First Five Years! GEC!!!

Great thread, Charlie!

Here are a couple of 54's...

Nice idea for a thread, Charlie. I think there’s a lot of good stuff from those early years that doesn’t get a lot of “air time” these days.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much to contribute myself. I first discovered GEC in 2015, and while I was able to buy a few 2013 and 2014 knives around that time (still available on dealers shelves in those pre-frenzy days), I’ve only picked up a couple 2006-2011 knives in the time I’ve been collecting accumulating GEC knives.

The first was one of these GEC-made Schrade Large Trappers from 2007. The one shown here isn’t actually mine anymore, as it was the prize for a photo-style-imitation GAW a few years ago, but I have another just like it.

The other early GEC I have is this left-hand liner lock #73 from 2009. I’m not left handed, I thought it was interesting and a bit unusual.

As near as I can tell , there were only 32 of those Left Hands made . I traded Half/Stop Ron a #77 Barlow for one of those at the 2017 Rendezvous . I am not Left Handed either , but what the heck !!! I just really liked the 73's

Beautiful trio, have you de-bailed that Northfield? I'm very impressed with that Spear White Owl, been after an example any scales for ages, got a bite sometime ago but then got the run around...Must get my Owls from '11 out but they're all messy users except the very un Dead Skunk :D

I also traded Half/Stop Ron another #77 Barlow in 2017 for this 488210 with Crushed White Seashell . 25 made with serial numbers and this one is #24 but can't be seen in the photos and is pretty faint when in hand . Photos from 2017

The Forum Knife 2011 was the progenitor of the highly appreciated 85 pattern, and the first of many Forum Knives from GEC. Appearing with single & double blades, full handle and EO, mainly Spear master in keeping with the Teardrop/Candle End/Bullet frame, but also some Clips were made later on past this era. Many interesting scale options but I think the Forum Knife is the only one to have NS liners rather than brass. Would like to see more NS liners or an all steel version.

Here a Stag 2 blade from 2011

Another one I got from Ron in 2017 was this Tidioute 128109 in Smooth White Bone Serial # 09 which is 1 of 50 as it says on the Blade but GEC Production figures say that there were only 26 Serialized and 4 Un-Serialized . It came to me with the Verdigris in the bone .

I just stropped it, and that blue lockback is so sharp I'm almost afraid of it. Love it!!!
