The First Five Years! GEC!!!

I think this thread is a grand idea, easier to follow the earlier productions.it seems in the earlier days alot of bigger knives made, but that may change.one thing I find intriguing whether it is gec or case is that the dye patterns maintain the same name but don't look the same from earlier years to later.

One of the best looking knifes in my collection. 852211, commissioned by our good host!

And well…. A friend offered this up for a song and a dance so I brought it home. 128109.

Apologies, maybe these 2 knives shouldn’t be in the same photo frame. 😆

I think the #73 remains one of GEC's finest Will. If there was one pattern that I wish GEC would continually make and keep in stock, the #73 is it.
Agreed Christian, earlier on Charlie opined that people favoured bigger heavier knives due to occupations/work-this is clearly the case but also clothing plays a role. These days people wear lightweight (flimsy...informal) clothing, sports type even though most people are far from sporty these days  Formerly, overall, bib & brace, heavy duty shop coats, thick trousers, wool top coats etc - all more suited to a sturdy knife. The 73 bridges these gaps for me, it's a good sized knife with a very useful Drop-Point blade which lies low in the frame and I prefer to a Clip, but it's not too heavy in single blade form (never been keen on 2 large blades from one pivot myself) thus can be carried in most clothing. Also, you get them with locks....

Thanks, Will

Nice thread Charlie I still have a handful like some members I traded or sold some to fund my collection
This Walnut Stain Jig Bone 735111T is my first GEC and to this day I can't get myself to use it I just love the color and jigging
Years back I had a chance to get the same exact used knife from a non porch member and for whatever reason he ghosted me oh well something I would never do
I have more I will have to find or take pics

2007 H-10 Horsecut Walnut Bone. Can't find out anything about this in the GEC website, maybe 'too old' 🤣

N.B. Edit Checked the GEC site more carefully, the stainless stuff can be harder to find...this knife is one of 28 so there's only max 27 left in the US :D Monster tube it comes in too.
