The Flea Market Mung Absolution Thread

Just a reminder to refer to this definition of Mung: Mung_(computer_term)

Mung or munge is computer jargon for a series of changes to a piece of data, which are often well defined and individually reversible, but which transform the original item into an unrecognizable form.

Here it is used when the flea market degenerates into random chatter and non-sales related posts.

Ah. I could not for the life of me figure out what this thread was about, but it keeps going and MUNG keeps popping up, so I had to say something... Thanks for the clarification.

Well, it's certainly a buyers market at the moment on the Fleamarket. Can't believe the price drops on some of the knives. Can't decide if that's good or bad - suppose it depends if you're buying or you're selling :)

It sure does. I watch the flea mkt pretty closely, and one model in particular has gotten a bit soft in the hand made resale area over the last 6 weeks or so.
Over time I have sold off all my production knives to buy more Fiddlebacks, so the production Bushfinger is not my cup of tea. In fact, as the excitement of the production model has taken off, the cachet of owning a hand made Bushfinger started to wane. Since I own other beauties in the size range etc. I decided to sell my BF, and listed it at a fair price. I kept reducing it to see just how low I'd have to go, and finally Will made a great buy.

It's all good- I got out of a model I no longer wanted, and Will got a great deal. Andy's move into production is a bold business move that I applaud. I will continue to watch for hand made Fiddleback beauties.

I just hope none of my other favorite models go into "production" anytime soon.

it makes me all self conscious about my knife choosing abilities. when I have too keep dropping i think "is my knife ugly????"

bwahahahahaha

So.......if anyone wants to buy CAD's esquire that is listed in the Flea Market, feel free. Just saying :)

Is it bad that when I see drama starting I never pay attention to it or even read the thread? I'm here to look at stunning knives and talk about them. I'm broke and I have hellaciously bad internet so I get excited if I can even shark anything that's on my top 5 for the year list.
I've missed about 10 times more than I've sharked. And I'm okay with that, because I just want a tool to use that I think is cool.

Also know, every time thurin posts something I get all excited and can't click it fast enough. I love his pics and just the story that they tell. This goes for all of you guys. I love that.

Curse the Postal Service!! I hate waiting 'till Friday! Tracking numbers are a modern convenience but also a tease.

I feel your pain, I'm dealing with my own little postal crisis. I put 2 knives in the mail for hwyshredder on Monday only to go to my mailbox yesterday to find the box still in there with my new mail piled on top. I can't fathom having a job that apparently requires so little thought. My god look at the box, if the return address is my address and the recipient is in another state, maybe it is outgoing mail????
Thank goodness hwyshredder is cool with the delay. Thanks again hwyshredder.

Just to clarify since I'm a native speaker, that usually applies if it's written in a set of two mung's (멍멍 = mung mung). 멍(mung) by itself in Korean, actually means a "bruise."

In which case this would also apply:

That 3/16" Bushfinger might look aweful thick, but I have a natural canvas one with 3/16" and with a heavy taper, the knife is surprisingly nimble! Andy does a really nice job putting thicker stock on smaller profiles!

I agree Will. My BF is 3/16" as well. It's a beast and can handle anything, but still feels light and quick.
