The future of RAT

*grumbles slightly and moves another block of cash into the account labeled 'Scotch for RAT'*

That looks awesome.

Ok, forget the mudflap girl. That's pretty good.

I remember when he posted that up! My jaw dropped--he did such a good job with the modeling that half the pics looked real! And that optional caribiner clip is just one heck of a nifty idea!

That is a great design; I hope it really comes to production some day. If it does will the blade be stainless or carbon?

Oh IT WILL be produced. We want to blade to be D2 and the liner/frame to be stainless.

Sounds like a nice balance between having a true carbon steel or a true stainless. Good call!

Seeing as how I'm not a 1095 fan (just my opinion, everyone), I don't own any RATs anymore. However, when I did, they were absolutely amazing (esp. the RC3 and RC5). Do you have any intentions of producing your models in A2 and/or D2? Maybe the RC5 and up in A2 and the RC4 and down in D2? Or even just the RC5 and down in D2? Just throwing ideas out there...

That folder looks FANTASTIC! I've been exclusively carrying a Spyderco Paramilitary and Leatherman Skeletool CX around for quite some time, but if/when that D2 RAT folder comes out, I have a hunch I'll be ordering a couple of them. A folder hasn't excited me that much in a very long time.

Cheers to RAT for making simplicity a big part of their business model.:thumbup:

Hmm, I' m not a big fan of D2 steel, but I guess that knife is still a must-have for me:)

I' m in!

What if we melted a pile of D2 and 1095 together and made the blade out of that?

In small doses, D2 is pretty nice.

mmm like a folded combo Damascus?

put me in the "i don't care what steel you use, it's a folder FFS" camp

That folder is a damn good looking design. Look forward to seeing them when they're in production.

Never tried D2 before, but I'm game for it on this little guy.

I can't wait. Now I'll be checking the forum everyday for the big anouncement. Even if you tell us the announcement will be exactly 6 months from now. I'll be checking every day to make sure I don't miss it.

When the RAT folder comes out, it goes straight to the top of my "must have now" list.

Let the waiting begin........dammit.

Oh - MY - GOD. This thing is gorgeous.

In D2 would be kick ass.

I will be patiently waiting, dont mind me.

I am going to order a pink Izula in a bit, just to hold me off.

I don't understand the whole "Survival stock" deal. To me any B&C, HS, McMillan, Manners or other quality carbon/fiberglass stock that is solidly built and fits the shooter is a good survival stock. Durable and weatherproof. Low maintenance. What else could you ask for? I know I don't want some sort of storage compartment in my stock that will be rattling around as I bring the rifle up to shoot. There will never be one "do it all" rifle, so just pack a quality firearm that you know how to use in the caliber and action that fits the game best in the area you will be in. In florida .243 was my do it all caliber. Up here .243 will blow apart anything varmint sized and isn't big enough to take down our deer and elk. A 300 Win Mag and a .22 would be perfect. It seems pretty simple to me, you dont' have to have a skeletonized folding supermetal stock with 3 hidden compartments and a picatinny mounted wrist rocket to be a survival rifle...
