The Hinderer Anticipation Thread - What Are YOU Waiting for?

^ I just read it in this forum and on the green site from reliable sources. I'm not exactly in the know but I'm an observant sob.

@RDA: is your 3" EDC a Spanto or Slicer? Flipper or non?

My daily carry currently is a 3" Non-flipper Slicer. I have examples of all four combinations though and have carried both a flipper and non-flipper 3" spanto previously.

Just ordered my first Hinderer, a new 3.5" XM-18, Slicer grind Flipper, with Blue/Black scales. It should arrive either Friday or Monday.
I've been EDCing a small Sebenza with Micarta inlays for four years, so we'll see what wins out in the right front pocket.
Update: It's now 10:12 Friday morning and the wait for the FedEx delivery is in full swing.

^ congrats quoddy. Great score. The 3.5 slicer flipper is awesome. For my edc tasks it is the perfect knife. Enjoy!

There is quite a difference between a small sebenza and 3.5" xm. I think you will find that the xm will be much beefier. I too carry a 3.5" slicer. Just a fantastic tool. Congrats on your purchase, let us know what you think when it arrives.

Yes, I don't believe that I will automatically prefer the Hinderer for EDC. Prior to carrying the Sebbie, I very briefly tried a Strider SnG with gunner grip. It never felt quite right and I sold it. I should mention that I have plans to acquire a 3" XM-18 NON-Flipper with Slicer grind within a couple of months... that is, unless the 3.5 becomes a total fixture in my pocket.

If I may offer an opinion, When your XM arrives start carrying when you are ready to carry it for awhile (couple weeks) the size difference (for me) when I went from what I always carried to my first "larger knife" was noticeable. I really fought it - daily and finally gave up. It was quite awhile before the "larger knife" found its way back into my pocket but when it did.... it was there to stay UNTIL I got my first XM and the other larger knife sits next to ALL my smaller knives.
I hear them whimper sometimes when my shop is real quiet....kinda sad.
Just my $.02 and worth every dime :)

Hinderers are often compared to other knives in various discussions. In my opinion a Sebenza is a Sebenza and an XM is an XM. Just keep in mind the XMs are designed with a certain buyer in mind and features...like the flipper (for example) is there to more easily open the blade with a gloved hand...the LBS (as another example) is a safety feature to better assure no over-travel of the lockbar under stress.

I'll also say that in terms of size, the 3" non-flipper will be more like the small Seb. than the 3.5.

I still feel like its too good to be true. Don't jinx me!!! The deal I got on it was amazing. I really shouldn't have bought it but you all know that when things like this present themselves you find a way to make it happen. Thank goodness for tax returns!

Jensen, I hear that man. Tax returns def. help big time. Our power bill increased 80% since last month!!! is that even legal?!?! and then I saw on the news this morning that the cable company is increasing rates...is this a trend or something? We need some good anti trust lawyers lol. all jokes aside tho, this is total BS. not even kidding guys, 80% increase in the power bill. If it hasnt happened to you guys YET, it probably will soon. My fellow americans anyway...

on a side note, somehow by the skin of my teeth, I managed to scrounge up juuust enough dough for a new Hinderer...alittle clue...its SWEET! ;) Hopefully I'll have it in a few days, with many many pics! :D:D:D

Besides a bunch of bling still in the mail to me, I just ordered a translucent green scale to replace the brown one on one of my 3.5" slicers.

I ordered me a brass investigator. After the last night I worked ot, I had had enough! I'm sick & tired of the comments I get on my Tuffwriter.

Bowman, why negative comments on your Tuffwriter? I love mine, though I've been EDCing my Retrakt by Karas Customs.

The Hinderer pens look awesome, but I gotta have a pen I can operate one handed.

I've got an Operator, so the cap'll post, but I work in a VERY weapon unfriendly environment. It's almost daily someone mentions the rounded "stylus" point on my TW! To me, it's just a pen, but to them, I might as well have a 1911 on my hip! I went with the Hinderer pen, 1) because I like to match, & well, the xm18 has stole my pocket, and 2) it looks pretty small & innocuous, so maybe the strange folk I work with won't notice it. I hope!

Well, it looks like my timing was right, and I was able to get a gen 4, 3.5 slicer. It should be here next week, I had a 3" awhile back and it just wasn't for me, and have been waiting for the right moment for awhile, will post pics when it arrives.....:)

My Pond Scum slicer should arrive today! But I won't be home untill tomorrow... I can't wait:D

^ you'd better get those pics up as soon as you get that thing in hand. I'm almost as excited to see that scale as I am about my inbound grail.
