THE Hollow Handle Knife Thread

Gaston,

With your love for chopping with hollow handle knives, why not order a M.O.A. knife from Sam? This thing was designed for chopping and is everything you're looking for in a knife. Comes in stainless or carbon and truly built like a tank. Seems like a no brainer.

This is my Brand new knife. It is my BW-M6, Designed by me and made by Andrew Clifford!! Could not of asked for a better maker to make this knife!!

It has been a long harsh road to get this knife made!! A 3-year wait and then sudden cancellation by that knifemaker...Followed by another wait for Andy to make this knife! Andy made this knife while going through extreme family atrocities! And it took him longer than it usually did! But at least he didn't Cancel it and run from the commitment!! And he don't have the Best Customer Service skills...But at least he didn't cancel and run from his commitment!!! And now this 2nd knife I designed...that long chapter is now Closed!

I was talking to Andrew Clifford last year about having a knife made. Then Christmas happened and I forgot about it. I just got back in touch with him and he's making me a hollow handled knife.

Chad

Pls keep in mind...Never pay a knifemaker upfront to make your knife because as someone said, it is the Hardest knife for a knife maker to make...One that is already Paid For!!

Really?? I'm really tempted to order one... I visited his site, very organized, and they look really beautiful knives.
Knives to use, not to force to be showcased. What do you think about it? Do you have any pictures of yours? My favorite is definitely the M.O.A. System, but maybe with a sawback!

Sorry Jackal, I have No Good Or Bad comment about Sam Wilson and his work. I cannot speak positives or anything else of this knifemaker for personal reasons.

Maybe others here can kindly comment. I cannot and I'm sorry!!

Mmmh I'm sorry but for me, the Extrema Ratio, absolutely NO!! It is an italian brand, and I'm Italian so I know him well.
They are not absolutely at the level of their reputation.. Here in Italy they run a lot in the used market, and if you keep them behind a glass it's ok, but if you use them, they are extremely disappointing. The folder has a closure that often breaks, and the fixed blade is often breaks the handle..The "Forprene" is similar to plastic, in the end.. They use only the N690 for all the blades, it's a good steel, but not excellent.. Just watch on YouTube the test of these knives, totally disappointing.. For knives in a so high price range, at least.. They say they supply the military, but ALL of the military that I know, have told me that nobody military uses an Extrema Ratio on the field, and never would entrust their lives to an ER..

I have a personal issue with Sam that prevents me from ever doing business with him again!!! The issue has nothing to do with his knifemaking skill or quality! Still, I can no longer speak good about this man!!

That is My decision and My choice!! And I can also not tell others to do business with him!!. Not gonna be responsible for sending people to that kind of knifemaker!!

And I apologize...I never wanted it that way with him. But it is what it is. If others do business with him and condone him, then that is fine....It is their choice to do so!!

I, however, Will Not!! And that is a real shame too because at one time he and I were really close as far as online, phone, and customer-knifemaker business!!

But he chose the path he chose and that is all I am going to say!!

This isn't the place to get into a deal that I cancelled over a year ago, but just so my name and the record is clear Brian (thedemonbeast) is certainly entitled to his opinion/feelings, but I never did anything dishonest or unscrupulous with him.

I cancelled a deal for a knife that I didn't want to make in the first place, and that part was my fault for lettng myself be convinced to do something I wasn't comfortable with. The whole ordeal lasted a little over a year (probably 14-15 months) and after making and heat treating three blades, all of which I paid for, I decided it was time to move on. Brian sent a deposit towards the end (I don't take money upfront but he insisted multiple times) which I had for around 3 months or less, and I refunded it before he even asked for it when I cancelled the deal.

This was all concluded around March of last year, I don't know what it has to do with anything now. I certainly took longer on the knife than I wanted, but it was completely custom and I was fairly new to knifemaking. Sometimes it just goes that way.
