THE Hollow Handle Knife Thread

I'm saving for one of Sam's knife, not that I usually have save but time is bad for me now

I got a Boker apparo. Great knife but I still haven't had a chance to put it to work yet.

I've also contacted Sam about a knife but it will be a while.
I'll be sure to post lots of pictures of it in action when I get it.

I'm late to the Rambo knife discussion segment, but I seem to remember that when he was returning from dropping off the religious group at the village he stopped to burn the pirate boat that had attacked them and threw his original knife into the flames. It wasn't in the flick, but I recall seeing it in one of those "deleted" scene additions. Sorry to interrupt this interesting thread.

Yeah, though not his original one. It was the one from the second Rambo film that was part of the gear he was given before the mishap with the parachute and he had to use it to cut away most of his weapons and gear, along with the chute.

Well I was updating my emergency bag in the back of the fj and realized that I didn't have a fixed blade on my pack anymore, also and my current flashlight sucked. So ordered a boker apparo and a better light. Just before christmas I was at a party and a bad wreck took place on the road out front, I spent an hour waving traffic through until the cops arrived and my light just sucked, I had to dive out of the way a couple of times. Some of my gear got used too so it was time to replace that. I had taken the knife off my pack and traded it off and just hadn't replaced it. Looking in my safe of goodies I realized I wasn't willing to hang a 500 dollar knife on my pack in the back of the truck. I'll fool around in the woods with the Apparo a bit and see how it works.

Got the boker apparo this morning and took it to the woods right away, chopped some brush and small branches up. Made a fuzz stick and built a small fire. Notched a few sticks with the saw it would make it easy to build a figure 4 or drop trap or tie points for a lean too. Its stoutly built and even though i'm not a fan of 440c it held a decent edge. So for a relatively cheap hollow handle knife its a good buy. The sheath sucks though, just crap. I'll make a kydex one for it in a day or two.

Snapped a couple pics after I came in, way to cold to stay out and play for long.

Thanks for the photo and the quick review. Good looking knife! Personally, I love 440-C, but then again, I'm a '70s/'80s kid. :D

Lol I grew up in the 60s and 70s so I've used a lot of 440c it just doesn't compare to newer steels like s30v and s35v. So since the boker version of the martin knife is really stout and well done now I really can't wait for the one he's making for me. Its a 7inch clip point s35v lugged guard and no saw teeth. If I like it as much as I think I will I'll have to order one of his larger with the full saw teeth versions as well.

What was the time frame on your build? I Recently inquired about an MCEII.. Website says about 3 months, not sure if that was standard or not.

Thats what he said as well. About 3 months maybe a bit less since I didn't want a sheath for it.

Been really busy, haven't had time to drop in. I'm sure you'll be happy with the Martin, cricketdave. I've only heard of happy customers from them. I would like to toss my .02 in about the Rambo III knife. I think he should have stuck with the Rescue knife, also. I love Hibben's bowie, but his hollow handle knife for the movie is just awesome, to me. It may be my favorite HH knife of all time. I also agree it flows with the theme a little better, and was a good progression after the Lile knives.

Took a little more time in the woods this afternoon, freaking cold though. My stream is still frozen over. Anyway did a little more beating on the Apparo and had some fun and took a better camera with me.

"Cool" photos, Cricket. Looks like no country for old men. :D

Have you put anything in the handle yet?

Just a few matches and a striker with some water purification tabs and tylenol. I'll be adding some kevlar cord and other small stuff as I sort through piles of stuff. That stream runs through the back of my land, pretty much the only good woods area I have the rest is all horse pastures, and they get too curious about what I'm doing and get in the way if I'm messing around with a knife out there. Big sidewalk superintendents every one.

Recently ordered an Apparo, should be here in a couple days.. I have a custom sheath for the knife on order as well. I'll be sure to follow up with pictures. Awesome blade!
