THE Hollow Handle Knife Thread

My biggest concern is that as soon as it gets here my oldest daughter will confiscate it. She's bad about that with new knives and guns. Of course she does carry and use the knives she has in the field so thats kind of ok. Kid's had her own gun and knife safe since she was 12.

Sounds like you raised her right!

I redid the wrap on my apparo this morning, desert tan. I think I'm going to see if I can find a little larger gauge nylon string. This is better than the black but not quite where I want it yet. The tutorial on Martin knives is a big help if you want to rewrap your knives.

Looks good CricketDave.. I was wondering what type of twine I would need. How does the walmart stuff compare to the stock wrap? The stock twine seems like it could be a bit better. I have a UC rambo knife and I like the thickness and feel of the wrap on that knife. Let me know if you find that larger nylon stuff.. It would be cool to get my hands on the stuff they wrap the lile knives in.

I've tried a couple of different stuff now, some of the walmart stuff blows, the rest is just a little too thin. I've ordered some micro para cord to try next. Should have it end of the week or so. I like the sheath looks good, I'm going to be building a new one this week as well. For the apparo I just tied it to my emergency bag and said good enough. The new Martin knife should be here in a day or so and that one I'll make a nicer sheath for. I'll post pics when I get it.

I like the desert tan better. :p

Seriously, they both look good.

I got it at academy sports, its #36 green trotline. 2mm micro paracord is also the right thickness and comes in a ton of colors.

This might make cricketdave excited. But anyway, I ordered my Handmade MCE II knife from Martin.lKnives back in October. It was finished, shipped out, and I got it just in time for my birthday party. My birthday was January 14. My party was on the 18. Newt learned about my birthday and expedited the final touches on my knife as well as upgraded shipping to 2nd day.delivery.

Ill tell you what else that awesome knife maker Newt Martin did for me. He upgraded the base model knife I ordered with 440C steel blade and guard to the S35VN steel as a birthday present. Normally he charges $85 for the steel upgrade. He also upped my round basic guard to the awesome lugged guard, and also my flat basic endcap to the skull crusher type.

I have wanted this knife for a long time now. I Finally got it. And I will tell you Another high end knife that I will have soon. And that is my superbly made totally awesome Ray Matton Handmade First Blood knife., made with D2 steel for blade and guard and 303 or 316 stainless steel for the handle. I chose the T6 6061 for the endcap to make.the knife even more movie-precise.

Ray Matton is just one fantastic knife maker to order from. He is great. Sam Wilson is top notch too. I have 2 knives coming from him. Outstandingly awesome!!!! Thanks for reading.

You gotta post some pics of the mce2 for me. Mine is the 7 inch version out of s35v with the lugged guard and no saw teeth with the skull crusher pommel in a green wrap. I will probably change the wrap to foliage green micro paracord when it gets here. I'll be making a nice leather sheath and a kydex one as well for it. My intention is to give it to my oldest daughter as a graduation present for passing the Cadet training course at ft knox this summer. She is going a year early as a sophomore instead of the normal junior timeframe because she is a nursing major and her last 2 years will be packed with clinicals and a heavy class load. She earned the most active cadet this last semester in service hours aka volunteering for every event they needed people to work and has already been promoted to a 3rd year rank and thats while taking 19 hours a semester and holding a 3.9 grade average. Yeah I think she has earned the knife.

It's too bad all of us hollow handle knife fans are so spread out over the country. It would be fun to have a gathering and see the collections others have!
