The idiot's guide to the AR-15 rifle (or an idiot building one)

This is by the best way I have see to mount a sling on the MOE hand guards.

That looks pretty good. I went with a single point sling (Magpul sling with the Magpul mount, I'm such a fanboi.:D).

I scoured the web trying to find some decent rails to mount on the Magpul forend and ended up going with some Airsoft units shipped out of Hong Kong. They are made for the airsoft version of the Magpul forend but they're alum. instead of the molded versions available from Magpul.

Pretty decent but I had to do alot of modifying of the internal heat shield to get them to fit as the PTS (airsoft) versions don't have heat shielding. Glad I did though, played with some with the molded rails and when they have a vertical foregrip, there's a bit of flex.

Eotech 512 (Thank you JV3!), Magpul MBUS rear sight, and not pictured is the Magpul MOE/MIAD AA battery grip insert for extra rattle free battery storage in the pistol grip. All that's left is an MS2 sling, read QD swivel, handguard swivel (either RSA when it comes out, or that Mount-N-Slot system Matt posted) and she'll be completely finished!!

lol TTD, with your plans for your middy rail and gas block yours will look much sweeter than mine. And actually, after a sling and a couple of attachments I'm done with my build. So thats basically it. Now it's your turn
 
i've been playing around with 1911 pistol sights for my SBR; this was the 1st draft, a bit too much bulk, but the sights are super fast to acquire, and no need to flip up

Ver.2, I will experiment with Novak style sights and streamline the mounting bases
 
man I need to sale some blades & finish my AR
Just have a lonely ESEE lower and Cricket Dave gave me some Magpul stuff in Dark Earth color

Jake, nice rig. I’m quite fond of my 512. I’ve tried a fair number of other optics and still prefer the EOTech. Little bit heavy, but still my preference.

Thanks matt. I found that last night. Still think I'm going to go with the RSA because i dont know how well the gator clip (or whatever magpul calls it) on their MS2 sling will ride on a QD swivel.

Adaman, I havent shot it yet but I really really love the reticle. It's long and a bit heavy, but I think AAs are an advantage cause they're everywhere and you can get them pretty cheap (even though I just bought a pack of Energizer lithiums for 10 bucks for 4 yeesh). I like the 1MOA reticle vs. the minimum 4 MOA on the aimpoint T/H-1 series sights that a lot of folks are seeming to replace their eotechs with. Just playing around with it I can tell that i'm really going to like it. Using 2 eyes open makes it look just like I'm playing a video game lol, like my own little heads up display. Cant wait to finally shoot it on TUESDAY :D :D

Its pretty sweet man. Looking back, yea I probably dont quite need it. But it's freakin cool and does help manipulation and reloads a LOT faster and easier.

The guys at IWC will have a mount that works well with the MS2 out pretty soon. It is always nice to have options.
