The Inkosi Appreciation Thread

I was able to secure a blade regrind spot with Razor Edge Knives (REK). Josh sent my Insingo blade and scales out for DLC and added his Ti hardware & thumb studs. I think the revised blade shape is fantastic. J2H supplied the backspacer. Josh is a master craftsman — he certainly made this Inkosi unique…

Wowwwww!

That is sick. Can you provide us with some dimensions? Behind the edge thickness, for example? Regardless, it's fantastic.

I do not have a caliper to make accurate measurements. Subjectively, based on my ability to feel, it is extremely thin b-t-e. The hollow grind comes together nicely. This is a slicer. The swede grinds appear perfectly symmetrical - Josh is very talented. The sharpened edge length is the same as the Insingo blade he started with. The tip was truncated into a modified wharncliffe shape.IMG_8795.jpegIMG_8790.jpegIMG_8797.jpeg

I am fond of the insingo blade shape and tip as-is, but I always like’m thinner. Very cool!

For me one of the perks of the Insingo blade is it doesn’t scare the office girls. Even as large as the Inkosi is the blade makes them think of a cooking knife I think so they don’t even flinch with I use it to open packages or un-bind cases of copy paper.
While of course my Mnandi is even more office friendly, I’m not always in the office but in my plant or on the roof or in the lot. so not having the wrong knife at the wrong place for the wrong job doesn’t happen with this knife.

Nice. However, you could carry both knives. Plenty of room to carry the Mnandi with the Inkosi. I recently have been carrying a Hinderer XM-18 or Inkosi in my right back pocket for heavy or dirty work, and a small Sebenza in my right front watch pocket for cutting anything that might touch my mouth, and a Microtech (old Benchmade or Guardian Tactical) OTF automatic in my left front weak-side pocket. This is in addition to a small Swiss Army knife (and a .357 Magnum, etc...).

I carried the Mnandi with a Zaan ( or 3) and an XM-18 before selling them and just carrying the Mnandi alone for 18 months.
I agree the Mnandi takes up no room but I just don’t need 2 knives at once. 1 knife 1 light and 1 gun at a time these days.

And here we go again…..
3 weeks of daily use after putting a dab of the CRK locktite on all the screws, the stop pin has lossened and started to back out. It’s moved enough that the washer has fallen behind it. It will need torn down before it can be re-tightened.
This is starting to get a little ridiculous.

( ignore the pocket lint this a tool getting daily use)

Again.

Use Locktite 242!

Its been 2 years free of issues for me.

Grab a small squeeze tube of blue locktite at an auto parts store. Small bottle tend to be expensive .

I’ve got a tube at work but I think I’m just gonna use the VC-3. It holds my optics screws tight for a year between battery changes and 3k rounds.
It also held my last Zaan pivot for 9 months of daily use. Not sure why I didn’t remember / think of it sooner.

My inkosi turned out to be the first unreliable CRK I’ve ever owned. It’s had an issue with loose screws from the beginning and yesterday, even after degreasing and locktighting the screws I found the stop pin and body screws backing out.
As I didn’t have time last night to tear down, degrease and try again I’ve tossed my beloved Mnandi in my pocket and will carry on!
By the way I contacted CRK and they told me I needed to use more locktight! And if that didn’t work I could use stronger locktight or send it in to be checked for spec…I’ll be honest I’m just not a fan of Tim Reeve Knives…

That sucks, dude. Just curious, did you try the vc 3?

Thats crazy. I don't use any loctight on my inkosis even though they reccomend it on the pivot. I haven't had any issues at all.

Ok all cleaned up and put back together. Ended up using 242 as my VC-3 got knocked off the table and stepped on when my pups put on an impromptu WWE match in the kitchen. So it will sit 24 hours and go back into service. If the pin loosens again back to the mother ship it goes.
