That‘s exactly the feeling that comes to mind whenever I read or hear someone describe the Sebenza’s action as “hydraulic.”Just a random observation to share. I cleaned and lubed my small 21 last night. It has been a while. It is so impossibly smooth now it’s hard to describe. Once the detent is released, the opening is feels absolutely frictionless but tight all at the same time it is amazing. the feeling is hard to put into words. Sometimes you get the lube applied just right. This one is about 10 years old and broken in.
I figured I’d share this in the only place in the world that someone would know what I’m taking about.
When I look at my large 31 tanto and Insingo, the Insingo appears to have more real estate. Never bothered comparing to my Regular drop point. From a visual perspective, between the drop point, tanto and insingo, which blade offering has the most blade life or blade material? its gotta be the tanto right?

(I don't think I'll live long enough to wear any of them out...so it's moot.)

I had experimented with the Cherry Balmz grease on a Spydiechef and it changed completely changed the action on the Spydiechef.Just a random observation to share. People get interested in trying different greases, and sometimes find one that works even better than stock. I remember whole threads about it. I’ve never been tempted to try a different grease than the CRK fluorinated. I guess I don’t have a problem I’m trying to solve so I haven’t put any effort into it. Plus I always have a tube laying around.I had experimented with the Cherry Balmz grease on a Spydiechef and it changed completely changed the action on the Spydiechef.
So I finally used Cherry Balmz Black rifle grease on my Sebenza. It’s unreal how smooth the action is. Like oiled glass.
I always have some CRK fluorogrease floating around. This was more of an experiment than anything else, ever since I’ve tried using Cherry Balmz on my handguns and rifles. I figure if it’s intended to be used with high heat and rapid movement it might be overkill, but oh well.People get interested in trying different greases, and sometimes find one that works even better than stock. A little confession:
So a while back I couldn't find my cloth I clean my glasses with. So out of desperation I grabbed the blue cloth that came with my Sebenza and wow did it do a great job. Well I'm still using it, sacrilege I know, but its perfect.
Carry on
Speaking of the Sebenza, the tanto has the least in terms of blade material, but it is also the one that will change shape the least over a theoretical lifetime of sharpening. The drop point probably has the most, but it will get thicker at the belly as you go. The insingo is somewhere in between. From a visual perspective, between the drop point, tanto and insingo, which blade offering has the most blade life or blade material? its gotta be the tanto right?
You keep the boxes? They are really nice cloths. I’ll probably drop an extra $15 for one next time I order something from CRK. You could do that and put the new one back in the box and pretend like you never committed such and atrocity.
I have a bag full of boxes. I'm like a CRK box gnome. I just...keep them. You keep the boxes?
You keep the boxes?
I’ll be honest, I now have 6 boxes on the shelf in my shop. My daughter the knife collector asked me if I would save them so when she inherits my knives she will have the boxes!I buy them without boxes, sometimes from lunatics who cut the box to pieces.
