I probably would have gone the other way and paid for a replacement part. "Like water off of a duck's back." I'm sometimes envious of folks who can do that.

I will honestly tell you that if I had been talking with anyone but Tim Reeve I would have reacted differently. I can’t tell you why but I I’m sure of it.

Thinking on that a bit more, I can kind of appreciate it also. In the future, as you look at that date, you will be reminded of the quality of company he represents and what he offered. That has a value different than just a corrected date. There is value to both sides of this event.

Might be possible; Tim's already offered more. ;) If needed, you could just send them a stainless one and have them engrave their logo on it. But, if it could happen with more than just that one, I would like one also, stainless or colored. You could put the date of your knife on the bottom of our cups also. Shared commemoration of CRK company people and quality.

It's interesting, like an accessory, and a bit easier to change than the lanyard. But, I haven't even tried swapping lanyards on mine yet and I want to try clipless first also with the inserts; still need to order those.
 
You don't need the inserts to try going clipless and see if you like carrying that way. I happened to have one on hand, but I didn't think the 'zaan looked awful without one before I installed it a few days later.

Give it a shot in the meantime.
