The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

Has anyone tried the Hawk collab clips on a large 31 or 21? You know, the kinda-sorta spring-loaded ones?

And, can they be had? I see them on the bay once in a while, but they go for more than a little bit of dough.
Owned several back in the day. Had them on a couple Umnumzaans and small 21s.

They’re as rare as hens teeth and as expensive as ammo in todays world.

Did you like 'em? The expensive part isn't necessarily a deal-breaker. Were they any better than the OEM clip?

For clarity, I have no problem with the clip that ships with the knives. Just wondering.

Love / Hate

Love-They really hold the knife in the pocket.

Hate-They REALLY hold the knife in the pocket( hated adding a step to get my knife.

Love- looked cool

Hate- the tab you press sticks out and it will sure as hell scratch your hand, truck, motorcycle tank……

I see a lot of Umnums going through the exchange. Were they discontinued or something? The only new ones I've seen lately are tantos.

Check the news. Are there riots in Boise? That's how you'll know when they discontinue the Zaan.

In all seriousness, I think a certain percentage of all CRKs end up on the exchange. Sebenzas are so plentiful that the Umnumzaan catches the attention.

The new Tantos you are seeing are the Monkey Edge version, they must have just had a drop. Every time they do the vultures
scalpers
entrepreneurs line up to do some gouging of their fellow members.
As for the others well the Zaan just isn’t for everyone. It’s sexy as hell and that’s a draw to get you to bite. Then the Zaan bites you ( thumb mostly) and a bunch of folks just give up on it before finding the nirvana that is a well broken in Zaan. You also have folks want to secure funding for the next knife and the Zaan is a sure sale and normally at a good price for the seller.

Just the thoughts of a guy that has bought and sold 7 or so.

Those MEFPs are attractive, but not much more so than the standard 'zaan, if at all, imho, and not worth the prices being asked. But that's just me. A small premium might be worth it...but not hundreds of dollars.

I completely agree. I’m all for a premium on a rare knife, it’s just the 40-50% on a new drop that’s tough to swallow.
I get why people buy, hell I’ve been guilty on a WC or 2.

So I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of my Mrs ;) to thank some very upstanding and concerned BF brothers for their undying devotion to my collections well being. Without the enabling guidance of these fine gentlemen I would not have had the strength or wherewithal to forgo the risk and danger (oh she looks all sweet and kind) to start upon the course of events to ensure the forever home of a sad, lonely and soon to be much loved knife.

In no particular order:

MrStabby7 MrStabby7 for showing that even a rusty POS needs love.
BTTLBRN BTTLBRN who just couldn't stay out of it.
ChazzyP ChazzyP normally reserved but has a mean streak most don't see.;)
jacobconroy75 jacobconroy75 who actually snuck in from the back with a PM to push my buttons.
Dcdavis Dcdavis for confirming I was on the right track.
M Modernflame who is always there somehow.
badmatt badmatt for 30 days in a row of rubbing it in.
Blues Blues for always believing in my weakness

I am sure there are others and if I left you out Im sorry as it was an unintentional oversight ( or I was protecting you from the wrath).

and last but not least

kidcongo kidcongo for planting the seed all those years ago with his now famous thread on the PJ Dammy.

It will be a while before I am able to fully welcome this beauty into my collection formally as it needs to return to the mothership for double blue thumb studs but hopefully soon enough to complete the 30 challenge by the end of the year.

Again I thank you all. I now have to go, it seems there are some honey-dos that have become pressing.....

Beautiful knife!

Nice one, Clay. This is a very dangerous place to hang out...

I'm hoping that if I do end up doing the zaan in MC and Tanto...I'll be able to shut my eyes, put my hands over my ears and run, run, run just as fast as I can.

Thanks Elliot. Yes the struggle is real, however I am pretty confident this will complete what I admit is my CRK collection ( of users). I won't say its my last knife but Im not sure what else I am even interested in at this point.
