I dunno. I’m a plain jane fan myself. The inlay is nice, but these are the first Umnumzaans that I’ve liked. If they made these standard production I might have to snag one. This was at the CRK booth today down at Blade Show as part of a lottery drawing. On the left is a Sebenza 31 in African Blackwood. The other two are plain Umnumzaans. What do you guys think? I like the 31 in African Blackwood.![]()
Impressive. You may like the Nyala over the Backpacker in time. It’s a discontinued model, the handles seem to be wider and more rounded. It most likely will become fairly sought after like pretty much all discontinued CRK in time. The Backpacker and the Inyoni may become fairly common as the years go on, depending on how long the lifespan of each model is.
They had it listed as African Blackwood. The inlay on the back was all black.I could be mistaken but I could of sworn it said African Black Wood. MaybeMustacheben can remember?
Agree. The PJ finish on the Umnumzaan is really nice.I dunno. I’m a plain jane fan myself. The inlay is nice, but these are the first Umnumzaans that I’ve liked. If they made these standard production I might have to snag one.
Please, no! My bank account can’t handle that!!Is it me or did they have micarta mnandi?

Show special, they sold them Saturday. Very fast. They didn’t bring many, maybe 30-40 (very much a guess). Is it me or did they have micarta mnandi?
Darn, maybe that means they will just be a show special and not a retail release. I would love a micarta Mnandi. I’m always worried about damaging the wood inlayed CRK.Show special, they sold them Saturday. Very fast. They didn’t bring many, maybe 30-40 (very much a guess).

Hmm. Maybe I will get one then. I just worry about it because not only do I use my knives fairly heavily, but I also wash them with soap and water which can damage wood over time. I wouldn’t put it past myself to drop the knife a few times in my lifetime as well. Micarta just seems like a safer bet for me, although the allure of wood inlays tempts me.Most wood they use is stabilized, the few that aren't are very hard. I don't think you'll damage the inlays with anything resembling normal or even heavy use. I've seen some very used Mnandis, the wood often looks better than the rest of the knife.

It’s good to hear about how durable the wood inlays are however. I might contact CRK and see if a micarta version is in the works, because I would either place an order or pick one up if that were the case.
Hopefully CRK also listens to us and makes a Large Mnandi as well eventually!
The blade and lock side on the 31 was DLC as well. It was maybe the smoothest 31 I’ve ever held. It had the new MIM clip as well. Too bad I didn’t win haha
No date yet, he said they were still “testing them”. That 31 was the first time anything has been for sale with one on it I think was what he said. It looks pretty solid but I didn’t toss it in my pocket either so I’m interested as well!Any word on a timeline for the new clip? Definitely interested in trying one, hoping to be able to buy just the clip whenever they release but if I have to buy a new Inkosi to check one out I guess that wouldn't be the end of the world![]()
Didnt the show "slick" zaans have the MIM clips? No date yet, he said they were still “testing them”. That 31 was the first time anything has been for sale with one on it I think was what he said. It looks pretty solid but I didn’t toss it in my pocket either so I’m interested as well!
