Hmm. Maybe I will get one then. I just worry about it because not only do I use my knives fairly heavily, but I also wash them with soap and water which can damage wood over time. I wouldn’t put it past myself to drop the knife a few times in my lifetime as well. Micarta just seems like a safer bet for me, although the allure of wood inlays tempts me.
It’s good to hear about how durable the wood inlays are however. I might contact CRK and see if a micarta version is in the works, because I would either place an order or pick one up if that were the case.
Hopefully CRK also listens to us and makes a Large Mnandi as well eventually!
I've used soap & water a few times on my Camel Thorn with no ill effect. I just don't leave it soaking. It would have even less effect on a wood that's heavily stabilized, since it's resin infused.
A large Mnandi would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.
