The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

Well, finally got the call from CRK that it's time to send my small 31 back to the mother ship to be fitted for a new blade.

Just boxed it up so it can hopefully get to the post office tomorrow morning. Kinda nervous 😬
About a one year wait for you?

Purchased some CRK Parts last week on the Exchange.
When they came in I checked the parts and they are for Small Sebenza.

I emailed Jekyll to Hyde, asking about the spacers. Will, wrote back within an hour that the Ti lanyard was his and the carbon fiber backspacer was a guy on BladeForums BOOMER52 BOOMER52 .

I took the chance, now I either get a Small Sebenza or list them up on the Exchange.

Does anyone know when the new shiny hardware started to appear? And if it’s any different other than the polish?

There is a video from Blade where CRK talks about making the new hardware in house. If I remember correctly the material is an upgrade and it started last fall. If I can find the video I will post it.

Thank you!

I noticed that the inkosi’s insingo blade has a different profile than the sebenza’s. It’s a bit more pointed and the swedge goes further up the blade. At least on the larges. Is there any difference between the two drop points? Other than the flatter hollow grind and dual studs.

Been kind of a bittersweet week. I sold both my Small and Large Inkosi Insingo. This was simply because I haven’t carried them for months because of my Leatherman Arc being superior for my life. They were supposed to be knives for life, but they just ended up sitting on a shelf.

On the bright side, the Backpacker has been great. I’ve been using it at home quite a bit. The grind makes the blade extremely slicey. The stock thickness would make you think otherwise, but I think it may be the second sliciest CRK. Only being outmatched by the Sikayo. This may be due to the Backpacker having a tall grind and being a hollow grind.

Because of this, I would be a bit hesitant to baton with the Backpacker. I’m sure it could handle it, but I do have larger choppers I would rather use. The thin blade of the Backpacker just makes me a bit cautious to put it to hard use like that. I’ve heard Tim Reeve say that he has had people baton with the Backpacker though, so I’m sure I’m just too anxious about it.
The handle is extremely comfortable as well. I think I’m going to throw an ulticlip onto the kydex sheath. It’s been a joy to use.

I’ve been searching for a Backpacker for years and it hasn’t let me down in any aspect.

From what I can see it seems like the marked is finally saturated with large plain 31's. Good times.
Clay isn’t here to debate but I think the answer is sebenza regardless the flavor. The 31 is great. The 21 is great. CRK > rest.

Finally got a Insingo BLK Micarta 31... but that new Micarta? Yay or nay?

Its def way smoother than the old and less interesting IMHO. Most if not all of the new ones use this tighter/straighter canvas pattern as far as I can tell. What say you? Am I just nostalgic?
