The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

Hey so I'm about to send in lil stabby for the reprofiling job. What's a good inclusive for a mirror polished edge. 30? 36? 40?

I freehand mostly, so I'm not sure what it's at right now

36 inclusive and you should be happy with the mix of durability and cutting power. I've run my S35VN blades at 30 before and they're absurdly thin and sharp. I'd opt for 36 personally though.

I have a nice little Christmas story...

I gave my best buddy a CQC-8K. He loves it! I think he waved it open a couple hundred times the day I have it to him. It even bit him pretty good when he was trying to close it one time.

He gave me an Aspire carbon fiber variable voltage vape. A little backstory - I smoked from about age 15 until I was 25. I quit that year because my son was born, and I had an "epiphany" one night. I just decided I'd really like to be around to see him grow up. I tapered down until I was ok with 2 a day, then quit cold turkey on Christmas Eve of that year. It took an iron will and was very difficult to turn them all the way loose.

I started smoking again when I started working at a job where my coworkers all smoked. It was a brutal night shift, long hours, high stress. I basically peer pressured myself into starting again. I was 33 when I started smoking again.

I decided I was going to give the vape an honest shot. I finished up the cigarettes I had, and started using it. Result? Day 3 and no cigarettes! I have absolutely zero desire to smoke. I'm amazed at how easy it was to make the switch. It's much better than smoking, and cheaper! My doctor has been trying to get me to try one every time I see him.

More money for knives! And I'll get to be around to enjoy them longer.

I'm glad my friend enjoys the knife I gave him, but I feel like he literally gave me my life back. I feel so blessed this Christmas!

my girlfriend started vaping 4 months ago same plan, hasnt smoked since she had smoked for 3 years

I was pretty busy today, so I guess I'll leave it till Monday.... Hopefully the offer doesn't expire

I was a smoker since the age of twelve. Switched to vape a year ago. Damn cigarette smokers piss me off now. They smell like crap and make me wanna puke haha.

So apparently a bowie style swedge is ALOT harder to grind with a dremel than I thought. I went at it 2 times, and all I was able to do was create this lumpy curve that barely resembled what I was going for. Now I'm giving myself one more chance but this time with an angle grinder. If it doesn't come out nice I'll be forced to just grind it down until it's flat. I really don't want to do this though, because I'll have to end up taking some off the tip. My main gripe with the military is the large difference in blade to handle length. Despite the challenges this has been a really fun project. I'm already trying to find ways to trim the handle down past the lanyard hole. Then I want to replace the back spacer with stand offs and add a stand off near where the lanyard hole is. Okay This is just a fantasy considering I stripped a handle screw a long time ago, so before I do anything I'd have to find a way over that hurdle.

I wonder what would happen if you sent it in to spyderco like that:D

Does your knife makes a grind sound when you flip the knife open . Mine has the mark of the detent ball on the blade . The knife flips open great but the grind of the detent ball is a let down .

A little for now. It just has to break in. It's the acid etch wearing off. Ever break in a black coated emerson? Pretty crunchy but butter smooth afterward.

I'm trying to make a quick deployment lanyard for my Endura (about 2m, or 6'7" of paracord in this one)... Hmmm, does it look too big? (sorry for the crappy pic)
